Wecock, Hampshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Sorting the DPF takes place at the car, not at a garage. No body shop, no filter coming off. A fitter travels to your door across Wecock, treats the diesel particulate filter in place, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
Nobody sets off until the price is settled by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most people find us with the light already on, and the motor short of power. That is the position this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the filter, automatically. First thing to get straight. Several faults put the same light on the very same panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with a clean.
It matters what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- Amber light, motor even now driving normally — a long steady run can yet shift it on its own. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you ring anything.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, motoring will not touch it. The window has gone.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop arranging long drives and book it in.
What the motor has been warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have normally been slipping for a while. It is late news:
- less power, particularly going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb like they did
- worse fuel economy
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears
None of that is proof by itself. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke around Wecock
For a DPF, the poorest use is the type you find in a residential suburb such as Wecock. None of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Woodcroft Primary, Kingfisher Close standing at half past eight, ten minutes to Spar, the hop to Rowlands Castle. The soot that should clear collects instead.
Save when you have a regular need to get out to the A3(M), under 3 miles from Wecock, or over to Portsmouth under 10 miles away, weeks slip past without a long unbroken stint. Geography is no help.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. Output is capped, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can never run — which is the whole catch, because a sustained drive works by triggering that regeneration.
Sound advice, that motorway run — right up until the moment it is not. In limp mode you are past that stage: treatment is what will do it, not more driving.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands round Wecock
Most drivers do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF yet fitted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can wait for a few hours.
First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the associated parts — all of it logged before anything is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never move are freed after that, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that car, which spreads inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has freed. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Wecock, with you present, or it is done where the car stands and the real-time data is checked afterwards.
A second scan confirms the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both reports are emailed over, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
Only one fault is fixed by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- the wrong figure from a pressure or temperature sensor
- the EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system problem
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting in the first place
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Which is why the scan comes first. You are warned before all work starts, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth noting. Leaving the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Wecock
Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
The figure is settled by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. The motor moves it, and so does the location — Wecock, Eastland Gate, or a spot farther out in the PO postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says a clean will not work, you are not charged for treatment. What even so stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was run and the advice was given.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Wecock if the light returns inside the period.
Dan came out on time, did the job perfectly and explained each step of the process clearly to me, along the way; with tips on how to prevent any future DPF cloggages. This is a reliable company, and judging by Dan, with great, reliable technicians! Thanks Dan!

Thank you Igor for resolving the dpf issue with my vw cc on 15.7.24. Kudos to the back office team as well for answering my questions beforehand. Vroom, vroom!
Where we get to round Wecock, and what we clean
Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the very same mobile service holds, and the filter never departs it.
Most weeks there is usually someone on Kingfisher Close, so Wecock hardly ever means a detour, and Eastland Gate, Honeywood Mews and the spots past Denmead are on the way. Coverage runs UK-wide, so even further out around Hampshire is even so worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Things Wecock drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- Sometimes, if you catch it early and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. That requires motorway speed for a long spell, rather than a quick trip to Spar.
- How long does the visit take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- How much does it come to in Wecock?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the check and the advice; treatment itself begins from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why settling it happens by phone.
- Have I have to be there?
- The vehicle requires a spot for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Ride along if you prefer, and the regeneration turns into a watched drive.
- Coming to Wecock — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is free across the PO area.
- Does the filter come away from the vehicle?
- Cleaned where it sits, on this service, so no. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Wecock.
