Mobile DPF Cleaning around Warsash and Hampshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. The engineer turns up at your door across Warsash and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody travels until the price is agreed over the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
The light is already on and the car is low on power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page deals with.
DPF light on? What comes next
It could not be the unit whatsoever. That is the first thing. Plenty of faults put the very same light on the very same dashboard, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with a clean.
The driving you get in the meantime counts. That is the other thing.
- A long even run may yet manage it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle runs fine. Costs nothing, so try that before calling.
- Car already gone into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not shift it now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
Before the light, what the car was warning you
Last news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for weeks before it arrives:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- consumption that is worse than before
- a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
- the car stinking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
That is not proof on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is there too.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block near Warsash
Being a coastal village, Warsash produces exactly the driving a DPF manages least well. Run through a normal week: Hook-With-Warsash Church of England Academy and home again, Church Road at a standstill before nine, a short hop to The Co-operative Food, a run to Hamble. Nothing there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. Soot that should burn off collects instead.
The map does not oblige either. The M27 is under 3 miles from Warsash and Southampton is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, weeks go by without the long steady run that would empty the filter on its own.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. The entire problem is that a proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands up to a limit. The far side of that line — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter requires cleaning.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done in Warsash
Most owners do not see coming this detail: the filter stays put. The job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the motor — on your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a couple of hours.
A diagnostic happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are cleared before any of it is started.
After that comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own access point, spreading inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Warsash if you are there, or a static regeneration where the vehicle sits, with the live data verified afterwards.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change confirmed, the light reset, anything still open noted. Both reports arrive with you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
Where treatment is not the solution
Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure sensor flagging a block that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system problem
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. You are let know before all work starts, not after you have handed over, if it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth knowing. Getting the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your original filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
DPF cleaning costs across Warsash
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.
Naming a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it on the phone, once the motor and its probable needs are established. Two separate things move it: what you own, and where you are — Warsash itself, across at Hook Park Estate, or farther out within the SO postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not work, you are not charged for a clean. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Warsash if the light returns inside the window.
Just want to say I spoke to Jason and he was a legend in helping us today. Very helpful and on point with his customer service. Highly recommend for future problems. Tony and Tara.
Liam did a thorough job and kept the car nice and clean. He thoroughly explained all he had done. Well done!
Booked late Wednesday and the job done on the Friday. Igor the technical was brilliant. He explained how the cleaning work and gave aftercare guidance too. Slight downside is the cost at £420 a pop.
Where we reach around Warsash, and what we clean
Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one mobile service applies, and the filter never leaves it.
Week in week out there is usually someone on Church Road, so Warsash rarely means a journey of its own, and Hook Park Estate, Hamble-le-Rice and the villages past Locks Heath come with it. Coverage runs UK-wide, so farther out around Hampshire is nonetheless worth a call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Questions Warsash drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- It can, provided you get it early and limp mode has not set in. It takes a steady run at motorway speed, not five minutes flat to The Co-operative Food and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is severely clogged.
- What does it run to around Warsash?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the scan and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Is it necessary for me to be present?
- You do not need to stand with it — the motor simply requires a spot to sit for a couple of hours. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- How soon can someone come to Warsash?
- That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the SO area has free.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- It is treated where it stands, on the on-site service. We never take filters off or bolt them back on, whichever way.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Warsash.
