The Bank, Cheshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Mobile DPF cleaning goes to the vehicle. No body shop, no filter coming off. An engineer comes to your door over in The Bank, clears the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the price is fixed on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
The light is already on and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we usually find people, and what this page covers.
DPF light on? What happens next
Not the DPF, necessarily. Opening thing to note. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a check and not with cleaning.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then matters.
- Worth a shot before you ring anything: amber light, motor driving as normal, just one constant run, no cost.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it checked.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
Symptoms have generally been growing for a while before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- pulling uphill, the power falls off
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- fuel economy going worse
- stop/start quietly packing in
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
Alone, none of that is proof. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round The Bank
For a DPF, the least kind use is the sort you meet around a village such as The Bank. Nothing of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Woodcocks' Well CofE Primary School, The Bank crawling at half eight, ten minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Kidsgrove. The soot collects rather than clearing.
Save when you have a regular cause to drive out to the M6, under 5 miles from The Bank, or across to Stoke-on-Trent under 10 miles away, weeks pass without a long steady drive. Geography is no help.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
The car is protecting itself, which is what limp mode means. With pulling power held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter needs will not run at all. That counts, because triggering one is exactly what a sustained run does.
The usual advice — run it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. The filter wants treatment rather than driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
DPF cleaning at the car in The Bank
On your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a couple of hours: the job happens with the filter still bolted on, which is the part most drivers do not see coming.
The ECU is taken first, reporting soot load by proportion and by mass, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.
Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access port, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. A second pass is sometimes needed on severely clogged filters.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean lifted. Come with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of The Bank. Park it and the regeneration runs on the spot, with live data checked once it is done.
Then a second scan, proving the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both reports are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
What a DPF clean will not touch
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean answers. It will not touch:
- a pressure or temperature sensor showing a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system playing up
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting in the first place
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Which is why the diagnostic goes first. You are let know before any work starts, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your existing filter is treated in place and goes back into use.
What DPF cleaning costs around The Bank
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that comes with it.
Once we know what you own, and roughly what the filter will take, the number gets fixed on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be straight. What you run and where you are both move it: The Bank itself, out at Scholar Green, or farther out within the ST postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not help, you are not asked to pay for a clean. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge still applies.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer heading back out to The Bank if the light reappears inside the window.
Fantastic service!!!!! Rung them and they came out the next day! Guy was fantastic and was only there just over an hour. would highly recommend.
The two who came to fix my car were absolutely wonderful. They did a first class job were friendly and spoke to about what they were going to do. First class.
Very happy with the service that was provided! Nic was efficient and knowledgeable. He seemed very honest and I am back motoring again after 75% blockage! Thank you!!
What we clean, and how far we reach round The Bank
Cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — a single call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
The same round that puts technicians on The Bank most weeks takes in The Bank, Scholar Green, Ackers Crossing and the villages beyond Mow Cop. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out through Cheshire is nonetheless worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Questions The Bank drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- It can, provided you get it early and limp mode has not arrived. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes flat to The Co-operative Food and back.
- Roughly how long does it last?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
- The cost across The Bank — what is it?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you drive and where you live both change the figure.
- Have I need to be there?
- The motor wants a place for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Travel along if you prefer, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
- Getting to The Bank — how soon?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is open across the ST area.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it sits. Lifting a filter off or putting one back on amount to anything work we do in either direction.
- The light reappears — then what?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to The Bank.
