On arrival, what the engineer does

The scan comes before anything is treated.

The light being on does not prove the filter is the fault. A blocked filter commonly sits alongside a sensor, glow plug, injector or turbo issue, and that has to be excluded first.

Where one of those is the cause, you are told before any work starts.

  • the fault pinned down and the filter's fullness measured, by complete diagnostic scan and live ECU read
  • injection at whichever access point works for that vehicle, with a high-pressure chemical clean
  • the regeneration cycle that burns off what the clean loosened
  • the lights zeroed once the scan is rerun, plus a road test where feasible
  • afterwards, the pre- and post-clean reports emailed to you

A heavily blocked filter occasionally takes cleaning twice, done there and then.
