Mobile DPF Cleaning in Stonefield and Staffordshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. No garage, no filter going anywhere. A fitter comes to your door over in Stonefield, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is fixed on the phone before anyone leaves.
If the light is showing and the vehicle is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers get to us.
DPF light on? What to do
Not the unit, automatically. First thing to say. A number of faults put the identical light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit starts with a check rather than with cleaning.
It counts what you get with the motor between now and the appointment.
- A long constant run may even now be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor runs as normal. Costs nothing at all, so try that before booking.
- Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not reach it now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it checked.
What the motor has been showing you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been building for weeks:
- tailing off on power, especially uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to
- fuel use getting worse
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the box
On its own, none of that is evidence. The light with them points at a full filter.
What chokes diesel particulate filters around Stonefield
Stonefield is a residential suburb, and the motoring that comes with one is the poorest kind for a DPF. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Christ Church CofE First School, Old Road standing at half past eight, five minutes to Morrisons, the run to Stone. The soot that should burn away builds up instead.
The M6 lies under 3 miles from Stonefield, Stoke-on-Trent under 10 miles out, and unless something pulls you out that way routinely, full weeks slip past without the long steady run that empties a unit. Geography does not help.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode means. With power limited and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter requires can never run at all. That counts, because setting off one is exactly what a sustained run does.
The common advice — run it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. The filter requires cleaning rather than road work once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
DPF cleaning at the motor in Stonefield
Most drivers do not anticipate this part: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF yet fitted to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can sit for a few hours.
A check goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware, so other faults are cleared before anything is started.
A cleaning fluid after that is fed in through the entry point on that vehicle, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Stonefield, with you present, or it runs where the car stands and the running data is checked afterwards.
Finally the check runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still open noted. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
Where cleaning is not the solution
Treatment fixes one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- AdBlue system problems
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- oil coming through the filter from a worn turbo
Which is why the scan happens first. Transpiring to be one of them means finding out it before work starts, not after paying for it.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your original filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.
The cost of DPF cleaning around Stonefield
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that comes with it.
Publishing a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it by phone, once the motor and its likely needs are clear. The motor shifts it, and so does the location — Stonefield, Oultoncross, or somewhere further out in the ST postcode area.
Where the check says cleaning will not help, you are not billed for cleaning. You even so pay that charge: someone travelled, did the scan and passed on you the advice.
If the light comes back inside that window, an engineer heads back out to Stonefield — the work comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.

What we clean, and how far we go round Stonefield
Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same on-site service holds, and the filter never leaves it.
Engineers are along Old Road week in week out, so Stonefield is seldom a detour, and the same run takes in Oultoncross, Stone and the places out past Oulton. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone anyway from farther out across Staffordshire.

What Stonefield drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Quickly enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained spell, rather than a quick trip to Morrisons.
- The visit lasts how long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely clogged.
- What does it cost in Stonefield?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
- Is it necessary for me to be there?
- The motor wants a spot for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a supervised drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Stonefield?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is normal. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the ST area.
- Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it stands. Neither getting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Stonefield.
