Mobile DPF Cleaning for Statham, Cheshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. A technician turns up at your place over in Statham, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Nobody leaves until the price is agreed on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most people find us with the light already on, and the motor low on power. That is the situation this page is aimed at.
DPF light on? What comes next
Not the filter, necessarily. Main thing to get straight. A number of faults put the identical light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.
It counts what you manage with the motor between now and the booking.
- Amber light, car yet driving as normal — a long constant run can yet shift it on its own. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you book anything.
- That window has shut once the car has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not help now.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.
What the motor has been warning you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms usually build for some time before it appears:
- climbing uphill, the power falls off
- an engine whose revs will not rise as they should
- worse fuel economy
- the stop/start silently giving up
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there
That is not evidence on its own. The light with them suggests a loaded filter.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block near Statham
The driving that comes with a residential suburb like Statham is the least kind type for a DPF. The school run to Statham Primary School, The Poplars at a halt at half past eight, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Birchwood — nothing of it goes on long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. Soot that should clear collects instead.
The Thelwall New Viaduct lies under a mile from Statham, Salford under 15 miles out, and unless something carries you out that way regularly, whole weeks pass without the long steady run that empties a unit. Geography does not oblige.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
The car is defending itself, which is what limp mode means. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter requires can not happen — which is the whole catch, because a sustained drive works by setting off that regeneration.
The common advice — run it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: cleaning is what will do it, not more miles.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Statham
Nothing comes off the car. That catches out people. The DPF stays bolted where it is and the work happens around it, on a drive, in a works car park, anywhere it can sit for a few hours.
First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated hardware — all of it logged before any of it is started.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own access port, opening out inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration cannot. Severely loaded filters sometimes take a second pass.
What the clean has lifted is then driven off by a regeneration. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Statham; if not, on the spot where the vehicle stands, with the real-time data checked afterwards.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still outstanding logged. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are on record.
The problems a DPF clean cannot fix
One thing is what a clean fixes — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor flagging a block that is not there
- the EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system failure
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting in the first place
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
The first check is there for just that. When one of those proves the fault, you hear about it in advance rather than once the money has gone altogether.
Two more worth noting. Leaving the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use.
What DPF cleaning costs across Statham
Every visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, taking the booking, running the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
No flat rate would be honest, so the number is settled on the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Where you are tells as much as what you run: Statham itself, Booths Hill next door, or farther out in the WA postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not a clean you pay for, and the check is what says so. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the check and offered you the advice.
If the light returns inside that period, an engineer comes back out to Statham — the work includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Andras was brilliant. Text me when he was 10 mins away, he was very informative whilst working and really organised. Anymore problems with my DPF I will contact DPF fixer again no hesitation.
Good job done by Daz. Blocked DPF sorted and car now runs normal, next day service too so well pleased.
The technician was very informative and kept me updated with what was happening with my car, a good job done.
Where we get to near Statham, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned on the vehicle on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Engineers are along The Poplars nearly every week, so Statham is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run picks up Booths Hill, Rushgreen and the places out past Heatley. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out around Cheshire is nonetheless worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Statham drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early enough and the car has not fallen into limp mode. Ten minutes to Co-op Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
- Roughly how long does it take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- What does it come to across Statham?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why pricing goes by phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- The car needs a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive instead.
- Can someone travel to Statham soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the WA area has open.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- Not on the mobile service — it is done where it sits. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
- The light reappears — then what?
- An engineer heads back out to Statham — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
