Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Sandleheath, Hampshire

On-site DPF cleaning goes to the vehicle. An engineer turns up at your address over in Sandleheath, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.

Reckon on the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone travels.

If the light is on already and the motor is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most owners get to us.

The DPF light is on. What then?

Not the unit, necessarily. Opening thing to get straight. That light can follow a number of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with a clean.

The driving you do in the meantime matters. That is the next thing.

  • Amber light, car even now driving normally — a long even run can even now clear it on its own. Costs zero, and worth trying before you ring anything.
  • That window has closed once the motor has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
  • Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.

What the motor has been warning you

Late news, the light. The symptoms usually grow for a while before it arrives:

  • tailing off on power, especially uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
  • the fuel consumption is worse
  • quietly, the stop/start bows out
  • smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there

Any one of those, taken singly, is not conclusive. The light beside them points at a blocked filter.

The reason diesel particulate filters block round Sandleheath

The driving that comes with a village like Sandleheath is the least kind type for a DPF. Nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St James' Church of England First School and Nursery, Alderholt, Elms Close barely moving at the morning rush, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the run to Salisbury. The soot that should burn away collects instead.

Where you sit does not assist either. The M27 is under 15 miles from Sandleheath and Salisbury is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks go by without the long unbroken run that would clear the filter on its own.

Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is. Pulling power is held down, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter requires can never complete — which is the real catch, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.

Sound advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. The filter wants cleaning rather than more driving once the car has gone into limp mode.

Where the car stands is where the DPF is done in Sandleheath

Most drivers do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, any place the car can wait for a few hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That requires a check first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related components.

Then the treatment. A cleaning solution goes in through the access port on that car and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. A second pass is sometimes needed on severely loaded filters.

Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has loosened. Stay with the motor and it becomes a monitored drive out of Sandleheath. Leave it and the regeneration is done on the spot, with live data verified once it is done.

Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second check is what confirms the change, clears the light and logs whatever is still showing.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean fixes. It will not touch:

  • the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • an EGR valve jammed open
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting whatsoever
  • turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter

That is what the first scan is for. Transpiring to be one of them means finding out it before any work starts, not after paying anything.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your filter is treated in place and goes back into service.

What DPF cleaning costs in Sandleheath

The cleaning begins from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that goes with it.

The figure is settled by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be truthful. Two separate things change it: what you drive, and where you are — Sandleheath itself, across at Damerham, or farther out in the SP postcode area.

You are not charged for a clean that the check says will not help. You even so pay that charge: someone came out, ran the check and gave you the advice.

If the light returns inside that window, an engineer travels back out to Sandleheath — the work includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

What we clean, and how far we go round Sandleheath

The filter is done in place on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.

The same trip that has our engineers on Elms Close most weeks picks up Sandleheath, Damerham, Camel Green and the spots beyond Ashford. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out across Hampshire is nonetheless worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Sandleheath

Is a long drive enough on its own?
It can, provided you spot it in time and limp mode has not arrived. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it takes — not fifteen minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
Does the visit take long?
Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
How much does it come to around Sandleheath?
It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
Have I have to be present?
You need not stand with it — the car simply needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration is done as a watched drive.
Coming to Sandleheath — how soon?
That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the SP area.
Does the filter come off the car?
Not on the on-site service — it is done where it stands. Nor does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light returns?
The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Sandleheath.
