Park End, Staffordshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Sorting the DPF takes place at the motor, not at a workshop. Your motor isn't taken off and the filter does not come off. An engineer arrives at your door across Park End, clears the diesel particulate filter on the car and carries out a DPF regeneration.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is settled over the phone before anyone travels.
Written for the state most callers are in: the light showing, the motor struggling for power, and the job still to fix.
The DPF light is on. What then?
First thing: it is not always the filter. Treatment is not where a visit opens. A check is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- A long steady run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the car runs normally. Costs nothing at all, so have a go at that before calling.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- Get it seen to rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
Symptoms have generally been mounting for some time before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- the fuel economy is poorer
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
That is not evidence by itself. Next to the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
The explanation diesel particulate filters clog round Park End
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the kind you get in a rural hamlet such as Park End. The school run to Ravensmead Primary School, Moat Lane at a crawl at the morning rush, ten minutes to Nisa Local, the hop to Alsager — nothing of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn away banks up instead.
Neither is far from Park End: under a mile to the M6, under 10 miles to Stoke-on-Trent. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter hardly ever happens.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
What limp mode means is the vehicle defending itself. The entire difficulty is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
Running it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands up to a line. In limp mode you are beyond that line: treatment is what will do it, not more driving.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is treated across Park End
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most owners do not see coming: the job happens with the DPF still fixed to the vehicle, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a while.
First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the related parts — all of it taken before any of it is started.
A cleaning solution next goes in through the access point on that motor, expanding inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean freed. That is a monitored drive out of Park End if you are present, or a static regeneration where the vehicle sits, with the running data verified afterwards.
Both read-outs are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what verifies the change, resets the light and notes whatever is still open.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature or pressure sensor
- an EGR valve held open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration running at all
- oil working through the filter from a faulty turbo
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. Transpiring to be one of them means learning it before work begins, not after paying a penny.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is replaced: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it hollowed out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
DPF cleaning charges around Park End
Any visit carries a call-out charge — travelling to you, taking the booking, doing the diagnostic and passing on the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Not one flat rate would be honest, so the figure is settled over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Where you are tells as much as what you run: Park End itself, The Quarry nearby, or further out within the ST postcode area.
If the diagnostic counts cleaning out, there is no charge to pay for it. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
If the light returns inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Park End — the clean comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Fantastic service from Andras and his trainee assistant (Andy?) sorry the name has slipped my brain. Andras was very knowledgeable and he got my van running within good time. I'm very happy with the service I was given! Thank you.
Atilla went out of his way to diagnose and fix my recurring Dpf issues. Explained everything at fault and remedies, as well as having a chat despite it being late. What a nice guy he was, more than happy with the service DPF Fixers provide.
The technician was very informative and kept me updated with what was happening with my car, a good job done.
The vehicles we clean and the ground we reach near Park End
The filter is done where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Nearly every week there is by then someone on Moat Lane, so Park End hardly ever means a detour, and The Quarry, Wereton and the places past Audley come with it. Further out around Staffordshire is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Things Park End drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- If you get it early, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It takes a long run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes flat to Nisa Local and back.
- Broadly how long does it last?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which extends it.
- What does it run to around Park End?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
- Do I have to be present?
- Somewhere for the car to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be done as a supervised drive instead.
- Getting to Park End — how soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is free across the ST area.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it stands. Taking a filter off or putting one back on come to anything work we do whichever way.
- The light comes back — then what?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to Park End.
