Mobile DPF Cleaning around Oxford, Staffordshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. A technician comes at your place in Oxford, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Allow for the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed on the phone before anyone travels.
Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the vehicle short of power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
Your DPF light is showing — what then?
Not the filter, automatically. Opening thing to say. A check comes before the work, because that same dashboard light has a number of candidate faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- Car yet driving fine on an amber light — attempt a long constant run first. It costs nothing and often sorts the filter without assistance.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, driving will not reach it. The window has gone.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it seen to.
What the car has been warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have usually been deteriorating for a while. It is last news:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they used to
- consumption that is worse than it was
- stop/start quietly packing in
- the cabin reeking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. Next to the light alongside them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Oxford
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the kind you get around a residential suburb such as Oxford. A regeneration takes long enough and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to Whitfield Valley Primary Academy, not on Houldsworth Drive at half past eight, not on ten minutes to Premier, and not on the dash to Kidsgrove. Unburnt soot that should burn off builds up instead.
The map does not help either. The M6 is under 10 miles from Oxford and Stoke-on-Trent is under 5 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way regularly, whole weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might scour the filter on its own.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. The real problem is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.
So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is good advice, until it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that stage, and the filter wants treatment rather than more driving.
DPF cleaning at the car in Oxford
On your front, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a couple of hours: the job is done with the filter yet fitted on, which is the bit most drivers do not expect.
The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by percent and by mass, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated parts, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never budge are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid put through the access port on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. Where the filter is heavily clogged, plan on a second pass.
A regeneration is next, burning off what the clean has loosened. Come with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Oxford. Leave it and the regeneration runs on the spot, with live data read once it is done.
Then a second scan, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor reporting a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration starting whatsoever
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
The first diagnostic is there for exactly that. You are told before any work starts, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
The cost of DPF cleaning around Oxford
A call-out charge applies whatever the outcome, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself opens from £299.
The figure is settled on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. What you drive and where you are both move it: Oxford itself, across at Fegg Hayes, or further out within the ST postcode area.
If the diagnostic rules treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. What even so applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the scan was done and the advice was given.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Oxford if the light comes back inside the window.
The tech named Nick was very professional. Had power loss/Rav/Booster sensor, block issues before cleaning. He checked, explained and cleaned the system. Makes a significant difference. Great services. Thanks a lot DPF FIXER.
Arrived at my address and carried out all work needed in a very professional manner, informing me at every stage what he was doing, he respected my property and vehicle all the way through, would highly recommended this employee and this company, kind regards Alan and Susan Rhodes.
Zoltan arrived as expected and got on with job, no time wasting. Whatever he did has worked and the fault has been rectified. A nice young man a credit to your company.
Where we get to round Oxford, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Oxford is seldom a special trip: engineers are working Houldsworth Drive nearly every week, and the same run covers Fegg Hayes, Great Chell and the spots out past Newchapel. Phone anyway from even further out around Staffordshire. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are offered comes down to the diary rather than how far away you are.

Questions Oxford drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the car has not slipped into limp mode. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Premier and back.
- Does the visit last long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which adds time.
- Cost across Oxford — what is it?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the scan and advice on what to do next. Pricing is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both shift the figure.
- Is it necessary for me to be around?
- No. The motor requires space to stand for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. The regeneration can be run as a supervised drive if you would prefer to be there.
- Coming to Oxford — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the ST area.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We never lift filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Oxford.
