Oakamoor, Staffordshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. No workshop, no filter leaving. An engineer travels to your address over in Oakamoor, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone leaves.
Written for the state most owners are in: the light on already, the motor struggling for power, and the visit still to book.
The DPF light is on. What next?
First thing: it is not always the unit. A number of faults put the identical light on the same dash, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with a clean.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then matters.
- A long even run may still manage it, provided the light is amber and the motor drives normally. Costs zero, so try that before ringing.
- That window has shut once the car has dropped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
Signs the motor has been showing you
The light is last news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have usually been mounting for a while:
- power tailing off, especially going uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they used to
- worse fuel use
- stop/start silently packing in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
What clogs diesel particulate filters near Oakamoor
Being a village, Oakamoor generates exactly the use a DPF manages worst. Run through a normal week: The Valley Primary School and home again, Church Bank at a standstill before nine, a short hop to Morrisons, a dash to Blythe Bridge. Nothing there lasts long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. What should burn away remains.
The M6 sits under 15 miles from Oakamoor, Stoke-on-Trent under 15 miles out, and unless something pulls you out that way often, full weeks go by without the long unbroken run that empties a DPF. Geography does not help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode stops it
What limp mode means is the motor protecting itself. With output limited and the revs held, the regeneration the filter wants cannot complete at all. That matters, because setting off one is precisely what a sustained run does.
Taking it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds up to a limit. The filter needs cleaning rather than driving once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode.
The car stays put for on-site DPF cleaning across Oakamoor
On your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can stand for a few hours: the job happens with the filter yet bolted on, which is the part most owners do not anticipate.
Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That means a diagnostic first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components.
Then the clean. A solution is fed in through the access port on that motor and expands inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Heavily clogged filters sometimes take a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has lifted. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Oakamoor, with you there, or it is done where the car stands and the running data is verified once done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change confirmed, the light reset, anything still open logged. Both sets of figures arrive with you by email, so the numbers are kept.
Where a clean is not the answer
One thing is what cleaning fixes — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
- EGR valves that stick open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration completing at all
- oil working through the filter from a faulty turbo
The first check is there for exactly that. If it proves to be one of those, you are let know before any work begins rather than after you have settled up anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets typed in as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your existing filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.
DPF cleaning costs across Oakamoor
Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
The price is fixed by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be straight. What you run and where you are both change it: Oakamoor itself, out at Longshaw, or further out across the ST postcode area.
If the diagnostic counts cleaning out, there is no charge to pay for it. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the check and gave you the advice.
If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer comes back out to Oakamoor — the clean comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Really impressed with this! Very easy to arrange, really helpful chap called Andras who carried out the clean and diagnostics, and much much cheaper than replacing the filter so saved me a lot of money. Highly recommended.
Daniel was very professional and honest. You should be proud to have him as a valuable team member. I will be willing to recommend DPF fixer to anyone that needs your service in the future. Thank you all so much Bobby.
Can not smile wide enough!! Nic came on time and my car is driving brand new again! He was so knowledgeable, friendly and outstanding in getting the DPF unblocked. Nic is a huge asset to your company! He should be highly commended!
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Oakamoor
The filter is treated on the vehicle on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The same trip that keeps our engineers on Church Bank most weeks takes in Oakamoor, Longshaw, Oldfurnace and the spots beyond Whiston. Phone anyway from further out through Staffordshire. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the slot you are offered hangs on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Questions Oakamoor drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early and the motor has not slipped into limp mode. A steady run at motorway speed is what it wants — not fifteen minutes or so to Morrisons and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
- What does it run to across Oakamoor?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you run and where you live both shift the figure.
- Must I be present in person?
- The car wants a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the open road, monitored.
- How soon can someone get to Oakamoor?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is normal. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the ST area.
- The filter — does it come away from the vehicle?
- Not on the mobile service — it is cleaned where it is. Neither taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to Oakamoor.
