Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Lovedean, Hampshire
Cleaning the DPF happens at the car, not at a garage. An engineer arrives at your place across Lovedean, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the figure is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the motor is down on power — that is how we normally meet people, and what this page is about.
DPF light on? What to do
It might not be the unit at all. That is the first thing. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — several faults show up as the same warning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then makes a difference.
- Amber light, car still driving as normal — a long constant run can yet clear it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- That window has closed once the motor has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not help now.
- Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.
The car has been telling you already
The light is last news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have generally been mounting for weeks:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- you notice the revs never reach where they used to go
- worse fuel economy
- without a word, the stop/start bows out
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
None of that is evidence alone. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
The reason diesel particulate filters choke near Lovedean
Being a residential suburb, Lovedean generates exactly the motoring a DPF manages least well. The school run to Woodcroft Primary, Blackthorn Avenue at a crawl at half eight, five minutes to Spar, the hop to Rowlands Castle — nothing of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. The soot collects rather than burning away.
Except when you have a routine need to head out to the A3(M), under 3 miles from Lovedean, or over to Portsmouth under 10 miles away, entire weeks pass without a long steady run. Geography is unhelpful.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. Power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter wants can not run — which is the entire catch, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Running it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it works right up to a line. Once the car is in limp mode you are past that point, and the filter wants treatment rather than more driving.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in Lovedean
The filter does not budge. That is the part most drivers do not expect: the job is done with the DPF even now fitted to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a couple of hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are cleared. That involves a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and associated hardware.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never budge are lifted after that, by a solution passed through the entry point on that car, which expands inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely blocked filters.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. Stay with the vehicle and it turns into a monitored drive out of Lovedean. Drop it and the regeneration runs in place, with live data checked once it is done.
Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what proves the change, resets the light and notes whatever is still open.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- a pressure sensor flagging a restriction that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever completes
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
The first scan is there for precisely that. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has left for good.
A couple more worth knowing. Getting the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is cleared in place and put back into use.
DPF cleaning prices in Lovedean
A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
The number is settled by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be truthful. The place you are counts as much as what you run: Lovedean itself, Wecock nearby, or otherwise out across the PO postcode area.
Cleaning that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the scan is what says so. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place.
Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer comes back to Lovedean.
Temur arrived the same day and sorted out the dog issue. cleaned and regenerated. very quick and competent. would highly recommend. first class service.
Dan was very helpful, thoroughly explained the process and checks he was doing. didn't take long at all to come. He Identified the problem straight away after a few checks. The car now runs like its brand new again. Would definitely use this service again.
Very friendly polite operative who arrived on time messaged me to say he was here. Told me there wasn't a fault with the DPF so there would be no charge gave me a few suggestions on what it might be so will check those out. Thanks Chris.
The vehicles we clean and the area we take in round Lovedean
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Technicians are along Blackthorn Avenue week in week out, so Lovedean is hardly ever a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Wecock, Cowplain and the villages out past Horndean. It is the diary, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call anyway from further out across Hampshire.

Common questions on DPF cleaning in Lovedean
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- If you catch it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a sustained run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to Spar and back.
- Does the visit take long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
- What does it cost across Lovedean?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the check and the advice; cleaning itself opens from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why settling it goes by phone.
- Have I need to be there?
- No. The car requires space to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. The regeneration can be done as a watched drive if you would rather be there.
- Travelling to Lovedean — how soon?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is available across the PO area.
- Is the filter taken off the motor?
- Not on the mobile service — it is cleaned where it is. Getting a filter off or putting one back on come to anything something we do in either direction.
- What if the light returns?
- An engineer comes back out to Lovedean — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
