Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Logie Pert, Angus
Sorting the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a garage. The engineer arrives at your place over in Logie Pert and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the motor is down on power — that is how we usually find people, and what this page deals with.
What to check when the DPF light is on
The DPF is not necessarily what is at fault, and that leads. Treatment is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults appear as the same signal.
It matters what you manage with the car between now and the visit.
- Amber light, motor still driving normally — a long even run can even now sort it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth a try before you book anything.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now gone.
- Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Signs the vehicle has been giving you
By the time the light shows, things have usually been deteriorating for a while. It is late news:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- economy that is worse than it was
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. The light beside them points at a blocked filter.
Choked diesel particulate filters round Logie Pert, and the cause
For a DPF, the least kind driving is the sort you find around a rural hamlet such as Logie Pert. Look at an ordinary week: the local primary school and back, A937 at a crawl before the hour, a quick trip to Lidl, a dash to Montrose. None of it there runs long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. What should burn away remains.
Neither is a long way from Logie Pert: under 50 miles to the M90, under 50 miles to Dundee. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter hardly ever gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. Output is held down, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter needs can not happen — which is the real difficulty, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Running it up the motorway is the common advice, and it works right up to a limit. The filter wants a clean rather than driving once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode.
The car stays put for mobile DPF cleaning across Logie Pert
The filter does not come off. That is the detail most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF even now fitted to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a few hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by proportion and by mass, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and connected hardware, so nothing is started while another fault is still possible.
After that comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the vehicle's own access port, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Heavily loaded filters sometimes require a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Logie Pert; if not, in place where the vehicle stands, with the live data read once done.
Then a second scan, proving the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are on record.
Where a clean is not the answer
Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- the wrong signal from a pressure or temperature sensor
- the EGR valve held open
- AdBlue system failures
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever starts
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first check's job. If it proves to be one of those, you are let know before any work begins rather than after you have handed over for it.
Hollowing the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning charges across Logie Pert
Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
No flat rate would be honest, so the figure is agreed by the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Where you are counts as much as what you own: Logie Pert itself, Craigo nearby, or further out within the DD postcode area.
If the diagnostic writes a clean out, there is no charge to pay for it. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was run and the advice was given.
The job carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Logie Pert if the light returns inside that window.

What we clean, and how far we travel round Logie Pert
One mobile service spans private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Nearly every week there is already someone on A937, so Logie Pert hardly ever means a special trip, and Craigo, Marykirk and the places past Luthermuir come with it. It is the diary, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone still from even further out through Angus.

Common questions on DPF cleaning across Logie Pert
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early and the motor has not dropped into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to Lidl and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- The visit runs how long?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — badly clogged filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
- How much does it cost around Logie Pert?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the check and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we price on the phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- Somewhere for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
- How soon can someone come to Logie Pert?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is usual. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is free across the DD area.
- The filter — does it come off the car?
- It is done where it is, on the call-out service. We never take filters off or bolt them back on, in either direction.
- Suppose the light returns?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Logie Pert.
