What the DPF engineer does when they get to you

A DPF warning light is not proof that the filter is the fault, and a blocked filter commonly sits alongside a sensor, glow plug, injector or turbo problem that has to be ruled out first.

The cause turning out to be one of those is something you hear about before work starts.

  • a live read of the ECU together with a complete diagnostic scan, establishing the fault and how full the filter is
  • chemical cleaner, under pressure and injected through the easiest access point on that vehicle
  • a regeneration cycle to burn off what the clean has loosened
  • one short road test where feasible, after a second scan and a warning lights reset
  • afterwards, the pre- and post-clean reports emailed to you

Where the filter is heavily blocked, a second clean may be needed on the same visit.
