Signs the vehicle has been giving you
The light is last news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been building for some time:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
None of that is conclusive alone. With the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
