Mobile DPF Cleaning across Llanddew, Powys
Sorting the DPF happens at the motor, not at a body shop. A fitter comes at your address across Llanddew, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
You'll be given a number by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the car down on power. That is the situation this page is meant for.
DPF light on? What to do
First thing: it is not automatically the DPF. A scan comes before the work, because that same dashboard light has several candidate faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Amber light, motor yet driving as normal — a long even run can still sort it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
- Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not touch it. The window has gone.
- Get it seen to rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
The vehicle has been telling you already
Symptoms have normally been growing for weeks before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:
- less power, particularly pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- fuel use going worse
- the stop/start quietly packing in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
By itself, none of that is evidence. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Llanddew, and the reason
Being a village, Llanddew produces just the use a DPF handles least well. Look at an ordinary week: the local primary school and home, Maes Maldwyn at a standstill before nine, a five-minute run to Co-op Food, a hop to the nearest station. None of it there runs long enough or is hot enough to complete a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn away builds up instead.
Neither is distant from Llanddew: under 50 miles to the M4, under 50 miles to Hereford. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter simply never gets made.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode is. The whole catch is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The filter needs cleaning rather than road work once the car has slipped into limp mode.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done in Llanddew
Nothing is taken from the motor. That surprises people. The DPF sits fixed where it is and the work happens around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, any place it can wait for a couple of hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That involves a check first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware.
Then the treatment. A solution goes in through the entry point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to take doing twice.
A regeneration follows, burning off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Llanddew; if not, on the spot where the vehicle stands, with the real-time data read after.
Both read-outs are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second diagnostic is what confirms the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still showing.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Only one fault is cured by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does little for:
- the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
- an EGR valve stuck open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration starting at all
- oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo
The first scan is there for precisely that. Transpiring to be one of them means finding out it before any work starts, not after settling up a penny.
DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is swapped: the filter you own is cleared where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it hollowed out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Llanddew
Each visit attracts a call-out charge — coming out to you, setting up the booking, carrying out the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Naming a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it by phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are known. What you run and where you are both change it: Llanddew itself, over at Warle, or further out within the LD postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the diagnostic says will not do it. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless applies.
The job carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Llanddew if the light reappears inside that window.
Arrived as promised the next day. Very good explanation of the process. Went ahead with the clean and the car is now very responsive and quick with no warning lights. Thank you Ashley.
Great experience, friendly and helpful. Stuck on holiday and no garages locally could help, gave these guys a call and within the hour Darren was there and had the problem sorted within a couple of hours!
Logan came out and was outstanding. He explained every step and was really patient with all my questions. Highly recommended.
The vehicles we clean and the ground we take in around Llanddew
The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
The same round that puts technicians on Maes Maldwyn most weeks picks up Llanddew, Warle, Uplands and the villages beyond Brecon. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out across Powys is still worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Questions Llanddew drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Quickly enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes flat to Co-op Food and back.
- How long does the visit take?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely clogged filter can require a second clean, which lengthens that.
- Around Llanddew, what does it cost?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
- Is it needed for me to be around?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car only needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be done as a supervised drive if you would prefer to be there.
- Getting to Llanddew — how soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the LD area has open.
- Does the filter leave the motor?
- Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. We do not take filters off or fit them back on, either way.
- And if the light reappears?
- An engineer travels back out to Llanddew — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
