Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for a while before it arrives:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
That is not evidence alone. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
