Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Leigh Park, Hampshire

The motor stays where it is — call-out DPF cleaning comes to it. The technician pulls up at your place across Leigh Park and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.

Nobody travels until the number is settled over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.

Most people find us with the light showing, and the vehicle low on power. That is the position this page is written for.

What to check when the DPF light shows

The DPF is not necessarily what is wrong, and that leads. A check comes before all cleaning, because that same dash light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.

It matters what you do with the car between now and the appointment.

  • A long even run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor goes normally. Costs zero, so have a go at that before booking.
  • Once the vehicle is in limp mode, a long run will not shift it. The window has shut.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and book it in.

The motor has been showing you already

By the time the light appears, things have normally been deteriorating for a while. It is late news:

  • less power, particularly climbing uphill
  • you see the revs fall short of where they used to go
  • fuel use getting worse
  • the stop/start without a word giving up
  • the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you press on

Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.

Why diesel particulate filters choke around Leigh Park

For a DPF, the poorest use is the type you meet around a residential suburb such as Leigh Park. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to Riders Junior School, not on Dunsbury Way at the morning rush, not on a few minutes to Lidl, and not on the hop to Havant. Instead of burning off, the soot builds up.

Where you sit does not assist either. The A3(M) is under 3 miles from Leigh Park and Portsmouth is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might empty the filter on its own.

Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration

It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. The whole catch is that a long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.

Sound advice, that motorway run — until the point it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter wants a clean.

DPF cleaning at the car round Leigh Park

Most people do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours.

First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it read before anything is touched.

A cleaning solution after that goes in through the access point on that car, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Where the filter is badly loaded, allow for a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Leigh Park, with you present, or it goes where the car waits and the running data is checked afterwards.

A second scan confirms the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still outstanding. Both reports are sent over, so you have the before and after figures on record.

What a DPF clean will not cure

Treatment cures one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor showing a restriction that is not there
  • an EGR valve stuck open
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration running in the first place
  • the turbo putting oil into the filter

That is what the first check is for. When one of those proves the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has left altogether.

A couple more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a solution — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleared in place and put back into use.

Costs for DPF cleaning in Leigh Park

A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

No flat rate would be truthful, so the figure is agreed over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The motor shifts it, and so does the postcode — Leigh Park, West Leigh, or somewhere farther out in the PO postcode area.

You are not asked to pay for treatment that the scan says will not do it. The call-out charge nonetheless applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place.

If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer travels back out to Leigh Park — the clean includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

Really pleased with the service which cleared the DPF block and warning light on dash of my Landrover. Saved me £2500!

Keiran was friendly and professional, he fixed the problem and offered advice on how to avoid the issue in the future. We were very pleased with the work.

What we clean, and how far we reach round Leigh Park

Whatever it is — estate, van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never quits it.

Our engineers are along Dunsbury Way most weeks, so Leigh Park is seldom a special trip, and the same run covers West Leigh, Bedhampton and the places out past Havant. It is the diary, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call anyway from further out through Hampshire.

Common questions on DPF cleaning in Leigh Park

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
If you catch it in time, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it takes — not fifteen minutes to Lidl and back.
How long does the visit last?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly loaded filter can need a second clean, which extends that.
Cost across Leigh Park — what is it?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we quote on the phone.
Do I have to be there?
You do not need to stand with it — the car only needs space to wait for a couple of hours. Ride along if you prefer, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
Getting to Leigh Park — how soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the PO area.
Is the filter lifted off the vehicle?
It is done where it sits, on the on-site service. Lifting a filter off or bolting one back on amount to anything work we do either way.
Suppose the light reappears?
Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Leigh Park.
