Mobile DPF Cleaning across Lee-on-the-Solent and Hampshire
The car sits in place — on-site DPF cleaning goes to it. An engineer arrives at your door over in Lee-on-the-Solent, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is on already and the car is low on power — that is how we usually come across people, and roughly what this page covers.
Your DPF light is on — what then?
First thing: it is not automatically the filter. That light can arise from several faults, not just one, so the visit starts with a check and not with cleaning.
It tells what you manage with the vehicle between now and the visit.
- Worth a try before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one steady run, no outlay.
- Motor already fallen into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
The motor has been telling you already
Symptoms have usually been building for a while before the light so much as arrives. Late news, in other words:
- power tailing off, above all climbing uphill
- you see the revs fall short of where they always went
- fuel use that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
By itself, none of that is conclusive. Next to the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.
The reason diesel particulate filters choke near Lee-on-the-Solent
Lee-on-the-Solent is a coastal area, and the driving that belongs to one is the poorest type for a DPF. Look at a normal week: Lee-on-the-Solent Junior School and home, High Street at a crawl before half nine, a five-minute run to Co-op Food, a hop to Fareham. Nothing there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn away collects instead.
The M27 stands under 5 miles from Lee-on-the-Solent, Portsmouth under 5 miles out, and unless something carries you out that way often, full weeks slip past without the sustained run that empties a DPF. Geography does not assist.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode means. The whole difficulty is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
Running it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it works as far as a point. Beyond that stage — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter needs a clean.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Lee-on-the-Solent
Most drivers do not expect this detail: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can sit for a while.
First a diagnostic. Running ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a figure, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the associated parts — all of it logged before any of it is cleaned.
Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the car's own access point, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration never can. Where the filter is badly clogged, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Lee-on-the-Solent; if not, in place where the vehicle stands, with the running data verified after.
Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what proves the change, clears the light and logs whatever is still showing.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
One thing is what cleaning cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor showing a block that is not there
- a failed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system failing
- a regeneration that simply never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
Which is why the scan goes first. You are told before all work starts, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.
Two more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your original filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
DPF cleaning prices in Lee-on-the-Solent
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that comes with it.
The number is settled by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be straight. The place you are counts as much as what you own: Lee-on-the-Solent itself, Rowner next door, or further out in the PO postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says a clean will not work, you are not charged for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless stands, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.
The clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Lee-on-the-Solent if the light comes back inside that period.
Huge thank you to Carolina and Andras for an exceptionally efficient and prompt service. 4 hours from the time I placed my initial call to the DPF being cleaned. We'll definitely be using you again.
The 2 guys that arrived were very pleasant, thorough and knowledgeable. Quickly diagnosed the issue on my Qashqai and rectified, high price tag naturally but - you get what you pay for! Fantastic work, very thankful.
DPR Fixer Nat came and fixed our diesel filter, was very efficient, courteous and polite, would recommend him to anyone.

Common questions on DPF cleaning across Lee-on-the-Solent

- In Lee-on-the-Solent, what does it run to?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why settling it happens by phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- The car requires a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Travel along if you would rather, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
- When can someone travel to Lee-on-the-Solent?

- It is done where it sits, on the mobile service. We will not lift filters off or fit them back on, whichever way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- An engineer heads back out to Lee-on-the-Solent — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
