Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Kingsmead, Hampshire
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the motor. A technician turns up at your door over in Kingsmead, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
Nobody sets off until the number is fixed by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
The light is on already and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we usually come across people, and precisely what this page is about.
DPF light on? What happens next
The unit is not automatically what is to blame, and that goes first. A clean is not where a visit begins. A scan is — a number of faults appear as the same warning.
It matters what you manage with the vehicle between now and the visit.
- Vehicle yet driving fine on an amber light — try a long constant run first. It costs nothing at all and frequently shifts the filter without a visit.
- That window has closed once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. Driving will not get there now.
- Stop planning long drives and get it looked at if the cabin smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
Signs the motor has been showing you
Symptoms have generally been mounting for weeks before the light even shows. Belated news, in other words:
- less power, above all going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
- worse fuel consumption
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
That is not proof alone. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters block near Kingsmead
Being a rural hamlet, Kingsmead generates exactly the use a DPF manages the poorest. Run through a typical week: Wickham Church of England Primary School and home, Kingsmead at a crawl before half nine, a five-minute run to Tesco, a dash to Botley. Not much there lasts long enough or is hot enough to complete a regeneration. Soot that should burn away builds up instead.
The M27 stands under 5 miles from Kingsmead, Portsmouth under 10 miles out, and unless something pulls you out that way routinely, entire weeks pass without the sustained run that empties a unit. Geography does not assist.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
Limp mode is the vehicle defending itself. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode rules out: power limited, revs kept low, no regeneration on offer.
Sound advice, that motorway run — right up until the moment it is not. In limp mode you are the far side of that stage: cleaning is what will do it, not more driving.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done in Kingsmead
Nothing comes off the vehicle. That throws people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work happens around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can sit for a few hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That means a diagnostic first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated components.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are loosened next, by a cleaning fluid fed through the access point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to require doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Kingsmead, with you along, or it is done where the motor sits and the running data is checked once done.
Finally the check runs again — the change confirmed, the light cleared, anything still outstanding noted. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not touch:
- sensors, pressure, reporting a block that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration running at all
- turbo failure, with oil entering the filter
That is what the first check is for. Where one of those is the fault, you learn of it up front rather than once the money has changed hands already.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets typed in as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.
What DPF cleaning runs to around Kingsmead
A clean begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
No single flat rate would be truthful, so the price is agreed by the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. What you drive and where you are both change it: Kingsmead itself, across at Woodend, or otherwise out within the PO postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says treatment will not do it, you are not charged for a clean. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the scan and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Kingsmead if the light comes back inside the window.

Where we reach round Kingsmead, and what we clean
The one call-out service spans private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated in place rather than taken anywhere.
The same trip that keeps engineers on Kingsmead most weeks covers Kingsmead, Woodend, Soberton Heath and the villages beyond Shirrell Heath. Further out through Hampshire is still worth phoning about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning across Kingsmead
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. That means motorway speed for a steady run, rather than a brief trip to Tesco.
- How long does the visit run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can require a second clean, which lengthens that.
- What does it run to in Kingsmead?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you run and where you are both shift the number.
- Is it needed for me to be there?
- The car needs a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
- Can someone get to Kingsmead soon?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the PO area.
- The filter — does it leave the motor?
- Cleaned where it sits, on this service, so no. We will not take filters off or put them back on, in either direction.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- An engineer comes back out to Kingsmead — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
