Mobile DPF Cleaning across Jack Hayes and Staffordshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. The engineer pulls up at your door over in Jack Hayes and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
Nobody travels until the price is agreed over the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the vehicle down on power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
What to do when the DPF light shows
Not the unit, automatically. Main thing to say. A diagnostic happens before all cleaning, because that same dash light has several candidate faults behind it.
It counts what you manage with the vehicle between now and the booking.
- Amber light, car still driving normally — a long even run can still shift it on its own. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you book anything.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- Stop planning long drives and get it checked if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
Before the light, what the car was showing you
By the time the light arrives, things have usually been slipping for weeks. It is last news:
- dropping away on power, above all uphill
- you see the revs never reach where they used to go
- the fuel economy is down
- silently, the stop/start bows out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. With the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
Why diesel particulate filters clog near Jack Hayes
For a DPF, the worst use is the sort you get across a rural hamlet such as Jack Hayes. The school run to Carmountside Primary Academy, Jack Haye Lane at a standstill at the morning rush, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Stoke-On-Trent — not one bit of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. The unburnt soot collects rather than burning off.
Except when you have a standing reason to head out to the M6, under 10 miles from Jack Hayes, or out to Stoke-on-Trent under 5 miles away, whole weeks pass without a long steady stint. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode ends it
The car is defending itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. The real problem is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
The standard advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The far side of that line — limp mode — road work will not manage it, and the filter wants cleaning.
The vehicle stays put for on-site DPF cleaning round Jack Hayes
Nothing comes off the motor. That catches out people. The DPF sits fitted where it is and the work happens around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, any place it can wait for two hours or so.
First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it taken before anything is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are freed after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the entry point on that vehicle, which spreads inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has loosened. Come with the vehicle and it becomes a monitored drive out of Jack Hayes. Leave it and the regeneration goes on the spot, with live data verified once it is done.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- sensors, pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
- EGR valves that jam open
- an AdBlue system failure
- a regeneration that hardly ever completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
Which is why the diagnostic comes first. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before the work starts, not after settling up anything.
Hollowing the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is replaced — your original filter is cleared in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
The cost of DPF cleaning in Jack Hayes
Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
No flat rate would be truthful, so the figure is agreed by the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The vehicle moves it, and so does the location — Jack Hayes, Light Oaks, or a spot farther out in the ST postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for a clean that the check says will not do it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless stands.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Jack Hayes if the light comes back inside the time.
I would highly recommend, Balazs the technicians, was very polite and just got on with the job. The engine light has gone and dpf filter cleaned. All paper work of the results and test provided, Great job.
I had a DPF related emergency on Wednesday morning, by lunchtime it was sorted. The technician was knowledgeable, professional and personable. The DPF filter was cleaned, faults cleared, and the car drove brilliantly afterwards. Many thanks.
Igor did an awesome job, super friendly. Was happy to explain to progress and how to try to prevent issues in the future. All in all excellent service.
Where we get to near Jack Hayes, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Jack Hayes is rarely a special trip: technicians are out on Jack Haye Lane most weeks, and the same run covers Light Oaks, Baddeley Edge and the spots out past Bagnall. It is the calendar, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone still from farther out across Staffordshire.

Things Jack Hayes drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the car has not slipped into limp mode. It takes a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
- Does the visit last long?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — severely clogged filters sometimes take a second pass, which lengthens it.
- What does it come to around Jack Hayes?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for the call-out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we price on the phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- No. The car wants space to sit for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- How soon can someone come to Jack Hayes?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is usual. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the ST area has open.
- Is the filter lifted off the motor?
- Not on the on-site service — it is done where it is. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- And if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Jack Hayes.
