Mobile DPF Cleaning in Highlane, Cheshire
Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the car. No body shop, no filter coming off. A technician comes to your address in Highlane, treats the diesel particulate filter in place, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the number is fixed on the phone before anyone leaves.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the car down on power. That is the situation this page is aimed at.
Your DPF light is showing — what now?
First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. That light can arise from a number of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with a clean.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then makes a difference.
- A long even run may even now manage it, provided the light is amber and the car drives fine. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before calling.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
The car has been showing you already
The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been mounting for a while:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has meekly packed in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
By itself, none of that is proof. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
The cause diesel particulate filters clog near Highlane
Highlane is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that comes with one is the worst type for a DPF. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Gawsworth Primary School, Shellow Lane standing at the morning rush, ten minutes to The Food Warehouse, the dash to Congleton. The soot collects rather than burning off.
Where you sit does not oblige either. The M6 is under 10 miles from Highlane and Stoke-on-Trent is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way routinely, entire weeks go by without the sustained run that would scour the filter on its own.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode amounts to. Output is capped, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter needs can never run — which is the whole problem, because a long drive works by triggering that regeneration.
Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands up to a line. In limp mode you are the far side of that stage: cleaning is what will help, not more miles.
The motor stays put for call-out DPF cleaning round Highlane
The filter does not come off. That is the part most owners do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF even now fixed to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the car can sit for a while.
The ECU is interrogated first, showing soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a review of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never budge are freed second, by a cleaning solution put through the entry point on that car, which spreads inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily blocked filters.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Highlane; if not, on the spot where the car sits, with the live data read afterwards.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still outstanding written down. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
Where a clean is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not help:
- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- the AdBlue system failing
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's whole job. Turning out to be one of them means learning it before work starts, not after paying for it.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.
The cost of DPF cleaning across Highlane
A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice offered. Treatment itself opens from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be straight. We settle it by phone, once the motor and its likely needs are clear. Two things change it: what you drive, and where you are — Highlane itself, over at Rodeheath, or farther out within the SK postcode area.
If the scan writes a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.
The job carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Highlane if the light returns inside that window.
Ash was great. Super friendly and equipped with plenty of knowledge. Glad he got sent to help my car out!
Andras was excellent. He arrived on schedule, was knowledgeable, professional and courteous and took care of our car. So far the clean seems to have worked and we hope it continues to so we can avoid the hugely expensive DPF replacement.
Daniel was an outstanding mechanic he went out of his way to help me fix my car would very highly recommend thank you!
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Highlane
The one mobile service takes in cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.
Highlane is hardly ever a special trip: engineers are out on Shellow Lane week in week out, and the same run takes in Rodeheath, North Rode and the spots out past Gawsworth. Coverage runs UK-wide, so farther out through Cheshire is even so worth a ring, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Questions Highlane drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not five minutes flat to The Food Warehouse and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily loaded filter can take cleaning twice, which runs on.
- Price across Highlane — what is it?
- Cleaning opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the price.
- Must I be around in person?
- You need not stand with it — the motor just requires a spot to stand for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then is done out on the move, monitored.
- When can someone get to Highlane?
- That comes down to the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the SK area.
- Does the filter come off the car?
- It is treated where it is, on the mobile service. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
- What if the light returns?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Highlane.
