Mobile DPF Cleaning in Headley and Hampshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. No workshop, no filter coming off. An engineer comes to your address in Headley, clears the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled on the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is already on and the motor is down on power — that is how we normally come across people, and what this page covers.
What to check when the DPF light shows
It may not be the unit at all. That is the first thing. That light can come from plenty of faults, not merely one, so the visit begins with a check and not with cleaning.
It tells what you do with the motor between now and the visit.
- Amber light, car still driving normally — a long steady run can yet sort it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you call anything.
- That window has shut once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not do it now.
- Stop planning long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
What the car has been showing you
Symptoms have generally been mounting for a while before the light so much as shows. Late news, in other words:
- less power, especially pulling uphill
- you find the revs fall short of where they used to go
- worse fuel consumption
- without a word, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Headley
For a DPF, the worst use is the type you meet around a rural village such as Headley. The school run to Ecchinswell and Sydmonton Church of England Primary School, Thornford Road at a standstill at half past eight, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Thatcham — not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. Instead of clearing, the unburnt soot banks up.
Where you sit does not oblige either. The M4 is under 10 miles from Headley and Winchester is under 25 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way often, weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might clear the filter on its own.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. With output held down and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires will not complete at all. That tells, because setting off one is just what a motorway run does.
So the usual advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, until the day it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are beyond that line, and the filter needs treatment rather than driving.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is done in Headley
The filter does not budge. That is the detail most people do not expect: the job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the car can sit for a few hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, reporting soot load by percentage and by mass, along with a check of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.
After that comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own entry point, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration never can. Where the filter is heavily loaded, plan on a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Headley; if not, statically where the motor sits, with the running data read after.
A second scan confirms the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still open. Both read-outs are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not help:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, reporting a restriction that is not real
- the EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system failure
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration running in the first place
- turbo problems, with oil entering the filter
That is what the first check is for. Transpiring to be one of them means learning it before work starts, not after handing over for it.
Hollowing the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is swapped — your existing filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
Costs for DPF cleaning across Headley
The treatment opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that follows.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it over phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are known. Where you are matters as much as what you own: Headley itself, Mill Green nearby, or farther out across the RG postcode area.
You are not charged for a clean that the check says will not do it. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place.
If the light returns inside that time, an engineer heads back out to Headley — the job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Quick and easy to book, arrived same day, not had an issue since the clean was complete (been a month now) - would recommend.
5 star service from DPF Fixer. Liam the engineer who attended my home was very pleasant, professional and went through the entire process in detail. He also helped resolve the problems, I had with my vehicle. Highly recommended to anyone who needs a DPF cleaning service at home.
The engineer came next day on time and did a full diagnosis. In the end he said my DPF was only 20% full so did not require the DPF clean. I paid for the call out only so they are honest people. Would definitely recommend this company without hesitation.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Headley
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Week in week out there is already someone on Thornford Road, so Headley hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Mill Green, North Sydmonton and the places past Bishops Green come with it. It is the calendar, not the distance, that settles whether it is one day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so ring even from even further out across Hampshire.
Headley itself
Headley is a small village in Hampshire, situated inland at an elevation of around 110 metres. Headley lies near the villages of Mill Green and Brocks Green, and is approximately 20 miles from the city of Winchester. Headley has a population of around 711 people, predominantly living in detached houses. Headley is also within commuting distance of London, being around 50 miles from the capital.
Things Headley drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- Early enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
- About how long does it run?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily clogged filters sometimes need a second pass, which adds to it.
- How much does it come to across Headley?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- Somewhere for the car to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
- Travelling to Headley — how soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is normal. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is open across the RG area.
- The filter — does it leave the car?
- It is cleaned where it stands, on the call-out service. Nor does taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Headley.
