Mobile DPF Cleaning in Hatch and Hampshire

With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. A fitter comes at your door across Hatch, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the car, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

If the light is showing and the motor is down on power, this page is for you. That is how most owners get to us.

DPF light on? What comes next

It may not be the unit whatsoever. That is the opening thing. That light can follow a number of faults, not just one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with treatment.

Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.

  • Amber light, vehicle yet driving fine — a long steady run can still shift it by itself. Costs zero, and worth trying before you call anything.
  • That window has shut once the car has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not help now.
  • Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration — stop booking long drives and get it seen to.

The car has been telling you already

The light is late news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been mounting for a while:

  • dropping away on power, particularly uphill
  • you notice the revs fall short of where they once went
  • fuel use that is worse than it used to be
  • stop/start without a word giving up
  • smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there

That is not proof alone. Alongside the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is full.

Why diesel particulate filters block around Hatch

Being a residential suburb, Hatch throws up precisely the motoring a DPF copes with least well. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to Old Basing Infant School, not on Hatch Lane at half past eight, not on a few minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the run to Basingstoke. What should burn away stays behind.

Geography does not help either. The M3 is under a mile from Hatch and Winchester is under 25 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, weeks slip past without the long steady run that would scour the filter by itself.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops

Limp mode is the motor defending itself. The real catch is that a proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.

So the standard advice to run it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until the day it is not. In limp mode you are past that point: treatment is what will do it, not more road work.

Mobile DPF cleaning where the car stands in Hatch

Most owners do not expect this bit: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the motor — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a while.

A check happens first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are ruled out before anything is started.

Then the treatment. A solution is fed in through the access point on that car and spreads inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Where the filter is severely loaded, expect a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Hatch if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car stands, with the running data checked once done.

Then a second diagnostic, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.

When a DPF clean is not the solution

A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not help:

  • the wrong reading from a pressure or temperature sensor
  • a stuck-open EGR valve
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration completing at all
  • a turbo passing oil through the filter

Finding that out is the first check's job. When it proves to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have settled up anything.

Two things more worth noting. Having the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.

The cost for DPF cleaning in Hatch

The clean begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that follows.

The price is fixed over the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be honest. Two separate things shift it: what you run, and where you are — Hatch itself, over at Andwell, or otherwise out in the RG postcode area.

If the check rules treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. The call-out charge still stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place.

A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Hatch if the light reappears inside the period.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Hatch

Whatever it is — car, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one call-out service stands, and the filter never quits it.

Week in week out there is already someone on Hatch Lane, so Hatch hardly ever means a detour, and Andwell, Mapledurwell and the villages past Old Basing follow. Phone anyway from further out around Hampshire. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the day you are offered comes down to the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Hatch itself

Hatch is a suburban area in Hampshire, situated on the riverside at an elevation of 76 metres, with detached housing being the predominant type of accommodation. Hatch lies near the villages of Old Basing, Andwell, and Mapledurwell, and is approximately 18.4 miles from the city of Winchester. Hatch is also within commuting distance of London, being around 42.5 miles away. Hatch has a population of around 1843 residents.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning around Hatch

Does a long run shift it?
It might, provided you spot it in time and limp mode has not begun. That means motorway speed for a steady spell, rather than a short trip to Co-op Food.
The visit lasts how long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
Around Hatch, what does it run to?
Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the check and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
Have I got to be present?
The motor needs a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
When can someone get to Hatch?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the RG area.
Does the filter come away from the motor?
On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. Nor does lifting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light reappears?
Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Hatch.
