Mobile DPF Cleaner

Great Green, Suffolk: Mobile DPF Cleaning

On-site DPF cleaning travels to the motor. A technician arrives at your place in Great Green, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

Nobody travels until the price is agreed on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.

Most people find us with the light showing, and the car low on power. That is the position this page is written for.

What to do when the DPF light comes on

Not the DPF, automatically. Main thing to note. That light can arise from several faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a check and not with treatment.

It matters what you do with the motor between now and the appointment.

  • Amber light, car even now driving as normal — a long steady run can still sort it on its own. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you book anything.
  • Car already fallen into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
  • Get it checked rather than using it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you

Symptoms have normally been building for weeks before the light so much as appears. Last news, in other words:

  • climbing uphill, the power tails off
  • an engine whose revs will not rise as before
  • fuel use that is worse than it used to be
  • silently, the stop/start gives up
  • smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car

None of that is proof by itself. Next to the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.

Why diesel particulate filters block near Great Green

Being a rural hamlet, Great Green throws up just the driving a DPF manages worst. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to Wortham Primary School, not on Shepherds Lane at half past eight, not on five minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the dash to Diss. The soot banks up rather than burning off.

Save when you have a standing need to drive out to the M11, under 50 miles from Great Green, or over to Norwich under 25 miles away, weeks pass without a long unbroken run. Geography is no help.

DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode kills it

What limp mode comes down to is the motor looking after itself. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter needs can never run — which is the entire problem, because a sustained drive works by starting that regeneration.

Sensible advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter wants treatment.

Cleaning a clogged diesel particulate filter in Great Green, Suffolk

DPF cleaning at the motor across Great Green

The filter does not budge. That is the part most people do not expect: the job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a couple of hours.

A check comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated hardware, so other faults are eliminated before anything is started.

A cleaning solution then goes in through the access port on that vehicle, expanding inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.

A regeneration follows, clearing what the clean has lifted. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Great Green, with you there, or it goes where the motor stands and the live data is read once done.

Then a second scan, proving the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both reports are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.

What a DPF clean will not touch

One thing is what a clean cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • the wrong reading from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • the EGR valve jammed open
  • the AdBlue system failing
  • worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
  • turbo problems, with oil entering the filter

Which is why the diagnostic goes first. Turning out to be one of them means finding out it before work starts, not after paying a penny.

Cutting the filter out is not a solution: without a working DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people type in, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is treated in place and put back into use. Two more worth noting.

The cost of DPF cleaning in Great Green

A call-out charge holds whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself opens from £299.

The figure is settled on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. Whereabouts you are matters as much as what you own: Great Green itself, Wortham next door, or farther out across the IP postcode area.

Cleaning that will not do it is not cleaning you pay for, and the scan is what says so. What nonetheless holds is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was carried out and the advice was given.

If the light returns inside that window, an engineer travels back out to Great Green — the work carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

Fast and reliable service. Highly recommended, my Mazda 3 had a clogged DPF and I called DPF fixer, job was done in a timely manner.

I was very worried about DPF issues with my Audi A4 and Nic from DPF fixer did a great job. In around an hour he did a test, flush and regen. He was very professional and helpful. Worth the money, I hope, if the issue doesn't come back.

James B.

Thank you Igor for resolving the dpf issue with my vw cc on 15.7.24. Kudos to the back office team as well for answering my questions beforehand. Vroom, vroom!

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Great Green

Whatever it is — private car, van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same call-out service holds, and the filter never quits it.

The same run that puts technicians on Shepherds Lane most weeks covers Great Green, Wortham, Mellis Green and the villages beyond Mellis. Phone anyway from further out around Suffolk. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the date you get comes down to the diary rather than how far away you are.

Questions Great Green drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive shift it?
If you get it early, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. That requires motorway speed for a long run, rather than a brief trip to The Co-operative Food.
The visit lasts how long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily blocked filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.
How much does it run to in Great Green?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. The vehicle and your address both shift the price, so we quote on the phone.
Do I have to be there?
No. The motor wants somewhere to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then runs out on the move, monitored.
When can someone get to Great Green?
You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the schedule. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the IP area has open.
Will the filter be lifted off?
Cleaned where it is, on this service, so no. We will not lift filters off or put them back on, either way.
The light reappears — then what?
Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Great Green.
