The technician arrives: what happens next

The scan comes before anything is cleaned.

The light being on does not prove the filter is the fault. A blocked filter often sits alongside a sensor, glow plug, injector or turbo problem, and that has to be eliminated first.

Where one of those is the cause, you are told before any work starts.

  • the fault pinned down and the filter's fullness measured, by full diagnostic scan and live ECU read
  • chemical cleaner, pressure-fed and injected through the easiest access point on that vehicle
  • a regeneration cycle to burn off what the clean has loosened
  • the lights zeroed once the scan is repeated, plus a road test where possible
  • reports from before and after the clean, emailed to you

Heavily blocked filters occasionally need a second clean, done on the same visit.
