Symptoms have usually been growing for a while before the light even shows. Late news, in other words:
- dropping away on power, above all uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as before
- fuel use turning worse
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
That is not proof by itself. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.
