Mobile DPF Cleaning in Glamis and Angus
With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter travels to your place in Glamis, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is settled by the phone before anyone sets off.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the motor down on power. That is the position this page is written for.
Your DPF light is on — what next?
It may not be the unit whatsoever. That is the main thing. That light can follow several faults, not just one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with cleaning.
How the car is handled in the meantime matters too.
- Amber light, motor yet driving normally — a long even run can even now shift it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
What the car has been telling you
By the time the light shows, things have normally been slipping for some time. It is late news:
- dropping away on power, above all uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- worse fuel economy
- stop/start silently bowing out
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in the car
None of that is proof on its own. The light with them indicates a loaded filter.
What chokes diesel particulate filters near Glamis
The day-to-day driving that goes with a village like Glamis is the worst sort for a DPF. None of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, The Square crawling at half past eight, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Dundee. The unburnt soot builds up rather than burning away.
Neither is far from Glamis: under 25 miles to the M90, under 15 miles to Dundee. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter hardly ever comes.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer run
What limp mode amounts to is the motor protecting itself. With power limited and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter needs can never run at all. That tells, because starting one is just what a motorway run does.
So the common advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, right until it stops being. The filter needs cleaning rather than road work once the car has slipped into limp mode.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is done across Glamis
The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most drivers do not see coming: the job happens with the DPF still fixed to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a while.
A scan happens first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are ruled out before a thing is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never shift are freed second, by a cleaning solution fed through the access port on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on badly blocked filters.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Glamis, with you present, or it runs where the vehicle sits and the running data is verified afterwards.
Then a second check, proving the change, resetting the warning light and noting anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
Where treatment is not the answer
A clean cures one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- pressure sensors flagging a restriction that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- an AdBlue system failure
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running in the first place
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. You are warned before any work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF fails its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use.
Costs for DPF cleaning across Glamis
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that comes with it.
The figure is agreed on the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be straight. The motor changes it, and so does the address — Glamis, Hatton of Ogilvie, or somewhere otherwise out in the DD postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not treatment you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge even so holds, because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place.
The work includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Glamis if the light returns inside that time.
Nic turned up on time and did a thorough clean of the DPF, he was very courteous and explained everything in detail.
Just want to say I spoke to Jason and he was a legend in helping us today. Very helpful and on point with his customer service. Highly recommend for future problems. Tony and Tara.
DPF Fixer thank for sorting my ford transit did a great job like you said like you would. Liam was great and did a good job very confident in him self. Great job many thanks. John.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to around Glamis
Whatever it is — estate, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one on-site service stands, and the filter never quits it.
The same trip that has engineers on The Square most weeks picks up Glamis, Hatton of Ogilvie, Wreaths and the places beyond Charleston. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out across Angus is nonetheless worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

What Glamis drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Sometimes, if you catch it in time and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to Co-op Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
- The visit takes how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly loaded filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it cost in Glamis?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we quote on the phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- No. The vehicle wants somewhere to wait for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- Coming to Glamis — how soon?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is available across the DD area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- Done where it stands, on this service, so no. And neither does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- An engineer travels back out to Glamis — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
