Before the light, what the car was telling you
The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have normally been mounting for weeks:
- power falling off, above all going uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- the fuel use is worse
- the stop/start without a word giving up
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there
That is not proof by itself. The light with them suggests a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round Elson
