Egypt, Hampshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. The technician pulls up at your address over in Egypt and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned still on the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the price is fixed by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
The light is already on and the motor is short of power — that is how we usually find people, and roughly what this page covers.
DPF light on? What to do
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A scan comes before the work, because that same dashboard light has several likely faults behind it.
How the vehicle is driven in the meantime makes a difference too.
- A long steady run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor goes as normal. Costs zero, so have a go at that before booking.
- Vehicle already fallen into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and book it in.
What the car has been warning you
Symptoms have normally been building for a while before the light so much as shows. Last news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to
- fuel use getting worse
- a stop/start that has quietly packed in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
None of that is evidence on its own. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Egypt
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the sort you get in a rural hamlet such as Egypt. The school run to Barton Stacey Church of England Primary School, Egypt at a crawl at half past eight, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Micheldever — not one bit of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. What should burn off stays behind.
Neither is distant from Egypt: under 5 miles to the M3, under 10 miles to Winchester. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter hardly ever gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode stops it
The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. Output is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter needs can no longer run — which is the entire catch, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until it stops being. Past that stage — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter needs a clean.
On-site DPF cleaning where the car stands round Egypt
The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most drivers do not expect: the job happens with the DPF even now fixed to the car, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the car can sit for a couple of hours.
A diagnostic goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is started.
Then the treatment. A cleaning solution is injected through the entry point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Egypt; if not, on the spot where the vehicle stands, with the live data read once done.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change verified, the light cleared, anything still outstanding noted. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
The faults a DPF clean cannot cure
Only one fault is fixed by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, flagging a block that is not real
- the EGR valve jammed open
- AdBlue system problems
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing at all
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
Finding that out is the first scan's whole job. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you find out about it up front rather than once the money has changed hands for good.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is treated where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it gutted a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth noting.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Egypt
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that comes with it.
Naming a flat rate would not be straight. We agree it by phone, once the motor and its probable needs are established. The car shifts it, and so does the location — Egypt, Wonston, or anywhere further out in the SO postcode area.
A clean that will not do it is not treatment you pay for, and the scan is what says so. The call-out charge nonetheless applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Egypt if the light comes back inside the period.
Fast response, efficient and clean work done, Kieran was open and informative at all stages of the process. The analysis of cars performance before and after treatment was a pleasing confidence booster for future motoring. Well done dpf fixer Ltd.
My father in law used this service. He was very impressed with the whole process and Kieran was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. Highly recommend.
The service was great. I book for my dpf system to be cleaned and it was done the following day at home. Great work by Liamf along with post service status and maintenance advice.
Where we travel near Egypt, and what we clean
A single mobile service spans cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Our engineers are along Egypt nearly every week, so Egypt is seldom a special trip, and the same run picks up Wonston, Upper Bullington and the places out past Sutton Scotney. Further out through Hampshire is even so worth ringing about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.
Egypt itself
Egypt is a small hamlet situated on the riverside in Hampshire, with a low elevation of around 63 metres. Egypt lies near the city of Winchester, approximately 6.7 miles away, and is also close to other nearby places such as Wonston, Sutton Scotney, and Hunton. Egypt has a population of around 225 people and predominantly features detached housing.
Frequent questions on DPF cleaning across Egypt
- Does a long run clear it?
- If you catch it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
- The visit lasts how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely blocked filter can take cleaning twice, which adds time.
- Cost in Egypt — what is it?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; cleaning itself opens from £299. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we quote on the phone.
- Have I have to be present?
- The car needs a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the open road, monitored.
- Getting to Egypt — how soon?
- That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is available across the SO area.
- Will the filter be taken off?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Egypt.
