Ebnal, Cheshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning goes to the car. The engineer turns up at your address in Ebnal and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
Nobody leaves until the figure is agreed by the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
If the light is showing and the vehicle is low on power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers get to us.
What to try when the DPF light shows
Not the DPF, always. Main thing to note. A clean is not where a visit starts. A check is — plenty of faults register as the same signal.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, car driving as normal, just one constant run, no charge.
- Once the car is in limp mode, driving will not reach it. The window has closed.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
Symptoms have usually been growing for weeks before the light even arrives. Last news, in other words:
- less power, above all pulling uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they used to
- the fuel use is worse
- the stop/start silently packing in
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
That is not proof by itself. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
The reason diesel particulate filters block around Ebnal
The day-to-day driving that comes with a rural hamlet like Ebnal is the worst sort for a DPF. Think about a normal week: Malpas Alport Endowed Primary School and home again, Ebnal Lane at a halt before the hour, a short hop to Aldi, a run to Whitchurch (Shropshire). Nothing there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to finish a regeneration. The soot that should burn away collects instead.
Unless you have a standing reason to head out to the M53, under 15 miles from Ebnal, or out to Wrexham under 15 miles away, entire weeks pass without a sustained drive. Geography is against you.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode means. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.
Sound advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are the far side of that line, and the filter needs a clean rather than road work.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Ebnal
The filter does not budge. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF even now bolted to the motor, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is taken first, showing soot load by percentage and by mass, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and related components, so nothing is started while another fault is still possible.
A cleaning solution after that goes in through the access port on that car, expanding inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to need doing twice.
A regeneration is next, burning off what the clean has freed. That is a monitored drive out of Ebnal if you are present, or a static regeneration where the motor sits, with the real-time data checked once done.
Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
Where cleaning is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment cures. It will not touch:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, showing a blockage that is not real
- an EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system playing up
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting whatsoever
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. When one of those proves the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has gone for good.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.
DPF cleaning prices across Ebnal
The treatment starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that goes with it.
Once we have what you drive, and about what the filter will take, the figure gets fixed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. What you own and where you are both shift it: Ebnal itself, across at Cross o th Hill, or otherwise out across the SY postcode area.
Where the check says cleaning will not do it, you are not asked to pay for treatment. What even so holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was carried out and the advice was passed on.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Ebnal.
Great service, from booking to completion of clean. Attila was really good, helpful and knowledgeable, explaining everything clearly; would definitely recommend!!
Atilla went out of his way to diagnose and fix my recurring Dpf issues. Explained everything at fault and remedies, as well as having a chat despite it being late. What a nice guy he was, more than happy with the service DPF Fixers provide.
Baz (the DPF Technician) was absolutely superb; he was knowledgeable, polite and informative. Importantly he cleaned and restored my DPF such that my car performance returned to normal.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to around Ebnal
One on-site service takes in cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Engineers are along Ebnal Lane nearly every week, so Ebnal is rarely a detour, and the same run takes in Cross o th Hill, Malpas and the places out past Hampton Heath. Even further out through Cheshire is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Common questions on DPF cleaning in Ebnal
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- If you get it in time, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes or so to Aldi and back.
- Roughly how long does it run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
- In Ebnal, what does it run to?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; treatment itself begins from £299. The vehicle and your address both move the price, so we price on the phone.
- Do I have to be around?
- No. The vehicle requires a spot to wait for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Travel along if you prefer, and the regeneration becomes a watched drive.
- When can someone get to Ebnal?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is free across the SY area.
- The filter — does it leave the vehicle?
- Done where it stands, on this service, so no. Lifting a filter off or putting one back on count as anything something we do in either direction.
- The light returns — then what?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Ebnal.
