Mobile DPF Cleaning around East Dean and Hampshire
The vehicle sits in place — mobile DPF cleaning goes to it. The engineer turns up at your door in East Dean and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned still on the motor, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody leaves until the figure is fixed on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
Most drivers find us with the light on already, and the motor down on power. That is the position this page is meant for.
What to check when the DPF light shows
Not the DPF, necessarily. Main thing to note. A scan goes before all work, because that same panel light has plenty of likely faults behind it.
How the vehicle is driven in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Amber light, car yet driving fine — a long even run can still clear it alone. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has shut.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and ring.
Before the light, what the car was showing you
Symptoms have usually been mounting for some time before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, particularly pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- fuel use that is worse than before
- the stop/start silently bowing out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
By itself, none of that is proof. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
Clogged diesel particulate filters around East Dean, and the reason
Being a village, East Dean generates precisely the driving a DPF handles worst. Think about a typical week: Lockerley Church of England Endowed Primary School and back, Glebe Meadow at a halt before half nine, a short hop to Waitrose, a run to Dean. Nothing there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. The soot load collects rather than burning away.
Unless you have a regular cause to get out to the M27, under 10 miles from East Dean, or across to Salisbury under 10 miles away, entire weeks go by without a long steady drive. Geography is no help.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is. The entire difficulty is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
The common advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, right until it is not. The far side of that line — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter needs treatment.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands round East Dean
The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most drivers do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF even now fixed to the vehicle, on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a couple of hours.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a figure, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected hardware — all of it logged before a thing is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are loosened second, by a cleaning solution fed through the entry point on that motor, which expands inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of East Dean, with you present, or it runs where the car waits and the running data is verified after.
Then a second scan, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and noting anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
What a DPF clean will not touch
Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- sensors, pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
- the EGR valve held open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting at all
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
The first scan is there for just that. You are told before any work starts, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no remedy. What gets searched for as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your existing filter is cleared in place and goes back into work.
The figure of DPF cleaning around East Dean
Each visit carries a call-out charge — travelling to you, setting up the booking, doing the check and offering the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
The figure is settled over the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be honest. Two separate things move it: what you drive, and where you are — East Dean itself, over at Lockerley, or further out in the SP postcode area.
If the scan writes treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so stands.
If the light reappears inside that window, an engineer comes back out to East Dean — the job includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Thomas was great, explained everything to me so I understood and got my car back on the road. Really informative and gave good advice.
Daz turned up and did a good job on the fix even though he wasn't feeling too well! Would highly recommend him and DPF Fixer service again!
Arrived as promised the next day. Very good explanation of the process. Went ahead with the clean and the car is now very responsive and quick with no warning lights. Thank you Ashley.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel round East Dean
Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — a single call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.
East Dean is seldom a special trip: engineers are working Glebe Meadow nearly every week, and the same run takes in Lockerley, Frenchmoor and the spots out past West Dean. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring anyway from even further out around Hampshire.

What East Dean drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- Quickly enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not fifteen minutes flat to Waitrose and back.
- The visit lasts how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily blocked filter can require a second clean, which lengthens that.
- How much does it cost in East Dean?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Have I have to be around?
- The motor needs a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Preferring to be there is fine: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- Coming to East Dean — how soon?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the calendar. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is available across the SP area.
- Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
- Treated where it is, on this service, so no. Neither lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- An engineer heads back out to East Dean — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
