Last news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for a while before it arrives:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to

- quietly, the stop/start gives up
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
By itself, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is there too.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Dowbridge
