Mobile DPF Cleaner

Didcot, Oxfordshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning

With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. The engineer turns up at your address in Didcot and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration follows, and you keep the filter you started with.

The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the price is settled over the phone before anyone leaves.

The light is showing and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we normally come across people, and precisely what this page covers.

The DPF light is on. What then?

First thing: it is not automatically the DPF. A scan goes before any treatment, because that same dashboard light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.

How the vehicle is driven in the meantime matters too.

  • Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one steady run, no cost.
  • Car already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
  • Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on the throttle, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

The car has been telling you already

By the time the light appears, things have normally been slipping for a while. It is belated news:

  • less power, particularly climbing uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
  • fuel use that is worse than it was
  • the stop/start quietly giving up
  • diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box

That is not conclusive on its own. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair guess.

The explanation diesel particulate filters block round Didcot

For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the kind you get in a town such as Didcot. Look at a normal week: Willowcroft Community School and home again, Broadway at a halt before nine, a quick trip to Balbinka Polish Food, a run to Didcot Parkway. Not much there goes on long enough or gets hot enough to complete a regeneration. What should burn off remains.

The map does not assist either. The M4 is under 10 miles from Didcot and Oxford is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, entire weeks go by without the sustained run that would clear the filter by itself.

Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration

Limp mode is the motor defending itself. With output capped and the revs held, the regeneration the filter requires will not happen at all. That counts, because starting one is exactly what a sustained run does.

The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The filter requires a clean rather than road work once the motor has gone into limp mode.

On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in Didcot

Most drivers do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF yet fitted to the motor — on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a while.

Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That involves a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related hardware.

Then the treatment. A cleaning fluid goes in through the access port on that vehicle and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. A second pass is sometimes needed on severely blocked filters.

Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has freed. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Didcot, with you there, or it is done where the car sits and the real-time data is checked once done.

Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second check is what confirms the change, resets the light and lists whatever is still showing.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

Treatment fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • sensors, pressure, flagging a blockage that is not real
  • an EGR valve held open
  • an AdBlue system problem
  • faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes
  • the turbo passing oil into the filter

Finding that out is the first check's job. Proving to be one of them means learning it before any work gets going, not after handing over for it.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into work.

Costs for DPF cleaning across Didcot

A call-out charge holds whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. The clean itself begins from £299.

Once we know what you drive, and roughly what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be straight. The car moves it, and so does the address — Didcot, East Hagbourne, or anywhere further out in the OX postcode area.

Treatment that will not do it is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still applies.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer heads back to Didcot.

DPF cleaning carried out at a vehicle across Didcot

Arrived at my address and carried out all work needed in a very professional manner, informing me at every stage what he was doing, he respected my property and vehicle all the way through, would highly recommended this employee and this company, kind regards Alan and Susan Rhodes.

Susan R.

Liam did a great job and I was very happy with the level of service and professionalism. Thanks for being so flexible in your times to fix the dpf.

Oliver A.

Great service from Nic. Arrived on time and dealt with the blocked DPF in my Mazda 6 2.2 diesel with ease. I received a clear report with advisories for my local garage to deal with, plus excellent advice to avoid further issues. Highly recommended.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Didcot

The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.

Technicians are along Broadway most weeks, so Didcot is hardly ever a special trip, and the same run picks up East Hagbourne, West Hagbourne and the villages out past Upton. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so phone still from farther out across Oxfordshire.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning across Didcot

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
If you spot it in time, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. That means motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a quick trip to Balbinka Polish Food.
Does the visit last long?
Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes need a second pass, which extends it.
Across Didcot, what does it run to?
Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
Is it necessary for me to be present?
No. The car needs space to sit for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Ride along if you prefer, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
Can someone get to Didcot soon?
You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the OX area.
Does the filter come away from the vehicle?
Cleaned where it stands, on this service, so no. Neither lifting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
What if the light returns?
An engineer travels back out to Didcot — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
