Mobile DPF Cleaning in Curdridge and Hampshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. The fitter pulls up at your place across Curdridge and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
Nobody leaves until the price is fixed over the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
The light is on already and the motor is low on power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page is about.
What to try when the DPF light is on
First thing: it is not always the DPF. Several faults put the same light on the very same panel, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with treatment.
How the car is run in the meantime counts too.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, motor driving fine, just one even run, no cost.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already gone.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it seen to if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
What the motor has been telling you
Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for a while before it shows:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- you see the revs stop short of where they once went
- fuel economy turning worse
- without a word, the stop/start bows out
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not proof. Next to the light alongside them, the filter is a fair guess.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block around Curdridge
For a DPF, the worst driving is the type you find around a rural village such as Curdridge. A regeneration needs time and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to Curdridge Primary School, not on Meadoways at the morning rush, not on five minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the dash to Botley. The soot collects rather than clearing.
The M27 lies under 3 miles from Curdridge, Southampton under 10 miles away, and unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks slip past without the long steady run that empties a unit. Geography does not assist.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. With output held down and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires cannot run at all. That counts, because triggering one is precisely what a sustained run does.
Taking it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands as far as a point. Beyond that line — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter requires treatment.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle round Curdridge
On your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter even now bolted on, which is the bit most owners do not see coming.
First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a weight, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected hardware — all of it read before any of it is cleaned.
A cleaning solution next is fed in through the entry point on that vehicle, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Where the filter is severely loaded, expect a second pass.
What the clean has lifted is then cleared by a regeneration. Ride along with the vehicle and it turns into a monitored drive out of Curdridge. Leave it and the regeneration goes statically, with live data checked once it is done.
A second check verifies the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still open. Both read-outs are sent over, so you have the before and after figures on record.
What a DPF clean will not cure
One thing is what a clean cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor showing a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's job. If it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have handed over for it.
Two things more worth noting. Having the filter gutted is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
The price of DPF cleaning in Curdridge
Every visit takes a call-out charge — coming out to you, making the booking, doing the diagnostic and giving the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Not one flat rate would be truthful, so the number is agreed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Where you are matters as much as what you run: Curdridge itself, Brown Heath nearby, or otherwise out within the SO postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for cleaning that the scan says will not help. Because the visit, the check and the advice have been done, the call-out charge nonetheless holds.
If the light returns inside that period, an engineer comes back out to Curdridge — the job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Managed to clean the DPF in my Range Rover Evoque whilst in limp mode and get it back on the road in 2 hours. Ashley was knowledgeable and did a cracking job.
Highly recommend DPF fixer they came out evaluated and confirmed we didn't need a clean and identified the real issue. Very professional and did not carry out any unnecessary work brilliant service.
excellent service. Daniel kept us informed of what he was doing step by step. he was very knowledgeable and nothing was a trouble to him. would definitely recommend this service.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we reach around Curdridge
A single on-site service takes in private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Curdridge is seldom a special trip: engineers are working Meadoways week in week out, and the same run picks up Brown Heath, Boorley Green and the spots out past Botley. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call still from even further out around Hampshire.

Questions Curdridge drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- If you spot it in time, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
- The visit lasts how long?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely blocked.
- How much does it run to in Curdridge?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we quote on the phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- Space for the car to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the open road, monitored.
- When can someone get to Curdridge?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the SO area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- It is done where it is, on the on-site service. Lifting a filter off or bolting one back on amount to anything a job we do either way.
- And if the light comes back?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Curdridge.
