Mobile DPF Cleaning across Church, Lancashire

With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. Your vehicle will not be taken away and the filter will not budge. A fitter turns up at your place over in Church, treats the diesel particulate filter still on the vehicle and performs a DPF regeneration.

You'll have a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.

Written for the position most callers are in: the light on already, the motor short for power, and the visit still to book.

What to do when the DPF light is on

First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. A diagnostic happens before any treatment, because that same dash light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.

The use you do in the meantime counts. That is the next thing.

  • Amber light, car still driving as normal — a long steady run can still shift it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you call anything.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
  • Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.

The motor has been telling you already

Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it arrives:

  • less power, especially going uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not climb as before
  • the fuel use is down
  • the stop/start quietly giving up
  • diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox

Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is on as well.

The explanation diesel particulate filters choke near Church

Church is a riverside town, and the driving that belongs to one is the least kind sort for a DPF. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St Nicholas Church of England Primary School, Hyndburn Road standing at the morning rush, ten minutes to Lidl, the hop to Church & Oswaldtwistle. Soot that should burn away collects instead.

The M65 lies under a mile from Church, Preston under 15 miles off, and unless something takes you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the long steady run that clears a unit. Geography does not help.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. A proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs kept low, no regeneration available.

Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands as far as a point. The filter needs cleaning rather than driving once the car has dropped into limp mode.

A clogged DPF cleaned in Church, Lancashire

Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Church

Nothing leaves the car. That throws people. The DPF sits fixed where it is and the work goes on around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, any place it can stand for a few hours.

The ECU is taken first, giving soot load by proportion and by actual weight, along with a review of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.

A cleaning fluid then is injected through the entry point on that motor, spreading inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to need doing twice.

What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Church, with you present, or it runs where the motor sits and the real-time data is checked afterwards.

A second check confirms the change, clears the warning light and notes anything still open. Both reports are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.

What a DPF clean will not touch

A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning fixes. It will not help:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
  • a failed EGR valve
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • oil working through the filter from a failing turbo

Which is why the diagnostic comes first. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands for good.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.

DPF cleaning charges in Church

Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

No flat rate would be honest, so the price is settled over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you drive: Church itself, Peel Bank close by, or otherwise out within the BB postcode area.

If the diagnostic counts a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. What even so stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the check was done and the advice was passed on.

Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer comes back to Church.

Had been quoted £2000 to replace DPF by my garage. DPF came home and fixed it for £400 or so, car runs perfectly now. Great service, highly recommend.

Carlo M.

Diagnosed my engine. Didn't need the clean. Gave me a diagnostic report and did not rip me off. I felt completely satisfied with the information given. Callum was polite, helpful and respectful. Good representative for the company.

Where we travel round Church, and what we clean

Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one mobile service holds, and the filter never quits it.

Week in week out there is already someone on Hyndburn Road, so Church hardly ever means a detour, and Peel Bank, Dill Hall and the places past Accrington follow. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so further out around Lancashire is still worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Things Church drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
It may, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not arrived. That calls for motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a quick trip to Lidl.
How long does the visit take?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
How much does it run to across Church?
Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we price on the phone.
Have I got to be present?
The motor needs a place for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Ride along if you would rather, and the regeneration is done as a supervised drive.
Can someone come to Church soon?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the BB area has open.
Will the filter be lifted off?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. Getting a filter off or fitting one back on count as anything something we do either way.
What if the light reappears?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Church.
