Mobile DPF Cleaning across Chorley, Lancashire
Treating the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a body shop. No garage, no filter leaving. A technician drives out to your door over in Chorley, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
Nobody travels until the figure is settled on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
If the light is on already and the motor is down on power, this page is for you. That is how most people get to us.
The DPF light is on. What then?
The unit is not automatically what is wrong, and that comes first. That light can arise from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit opens with a check and not with a clean.
It matters what you do with the car between now and the booking.
- Car yet driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and often clears the filter without help.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the stage to stop planning long drives and call.
What the car has been warning you
The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been building for some time:
- power tailing off, particularly going uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they once did
- fuel consumption going worse
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under the throttle
That is not proof by itself. It is a fair bet the filter is full once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters clog near Chorley
For a DPF, the poorest driving is the sort you meet in a riverside town such as Chorley. Run through a normal week: Chorley, the Parish of St Laurence Church of England Primary School and home again, Park Road at a standstill before half nine, a five-minute run to Booths, a hop to the nearest station. Nothing there goes on long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. What should clear stays behind.
The map does not assist either. The M61 is under a mile from Chorley and Preston is under 10 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way often, entire weeks pass without the sustained run that would clear the filter alone.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. With output capped and the revs held, the regeneration the filter needs cannot happen at all. That matters, because starting one is exactly what a motorway run does.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — until the point it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: treatment is what will do it, not more driving.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done in Chorley
The filter does not come off. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF even now fixed to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a couple of hours.
A check comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts, so other faults are eliminated before any of it is started.
Then the clean. A solution is fed in through the access point on that vehicle and spreads inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Chorley; if not, on the spot where the car waits, with the running data verified after.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light cleared, anything still outstanding written down. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are on record.
Where a clean is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning fixes. It will not touch:
- a temperature or pressure sensor showing a block that is not there
- a failed EGR valve
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting at all
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
The first check is there for precisely that. Turning out to be one of them means hearing it before the work begins, not after handing over for it.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your existing filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.
DPF cleaning costs in Chorley
Any visit attracts a call-out charge — coming out to you, making the booking, carrying out the scan and giving the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Publishing a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it by phone, once the car and its likely needs are clear. Where you are counts as much as what you run: Chorley itself, Chorley Moor close by, or further out in the PR postcode area.
Cleaning that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, did the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
The job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Chorley if the light returns inside that time.
Nic turned up on time and did a thorough clean of the DPF, he was very courteous and explained everything in detail.
Fantastic service from Zoltan. He sorted the DPF problem and found another fault causing problems which 2 garages had missed. A true technician who can fault find in addition to using his computer.
Logan was a Great honest guy who gave a great service. Arrived on time, explained process and would highly recommend.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Chorley
The filter is cleaned on the vehicle on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The same trip that has technicians on Park Road most weeks covers Chorley, Chorley Moor, Astley Village and the spots beyond Heath Charnock. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is one day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so ring even from even further out around Lancashire.

Things Chorley drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- If you get it early enough, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. Five minutes to Booths and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- The visit lasts how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- Across Chorley, what does it come to?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we settle it on the phone.
- Is it essential for me to be there?
- The vehicle needs a place for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. The regeneration can be run as a watched drive if you would prefer to come along.
- Can someone get to Chorley soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is normal. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the PR area.
- The filter — does it come away from the motor?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- And if the light comes back?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Chorley.
