Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning across Chimney Street, Suffolk

The vehicle stays put — on-site DPF cleaning travels to it. A technician comes at your address in Chimney Street, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.

Nobody sets off until the number is agreed on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.

Most people find us with the light showing, and the car down on power. That is the situation this page is meant for.

Your DPF light is lit — what then?

Not the unit, automatically. First thing to get straight. That light can follow plenty of faults, not just one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with a clean.

It tells what you manage with the car between now and the visit.

  • Motor yet driving normally on an amber light — attempt a long even run first. It costs nothing and frequently clears the filter without a visit.
  • That window has closed once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. A drive will not help now.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle, is the stage to stop arranging long drives and call.

What the motor has been telling you

Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for some time before it arrives:

  • dropping away on power, especially uphill
  • revs that will not pull the way they always did
  • fuel consumption going worse
  • silently, the stop/start packs in
  • the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

Alone, none of that is conclusive. Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair bet.

The explanation diesel particulate filters block round Chimney Street

The motoring that belongs to a rural hamlet like Chimney Street is the worst type for a DPF. A regeneration needs time and heat, and has none: not on the school run to Hundon Community Primary School, not on Buntry Lane at half past eight, not on five minutes to Clare Co-op, and not on the dash to Dullingham. The soot collects rather than clearing.

Except when you have a routine cause to head out to the M11, under 15 miles from Chimney Street, or out to Cambridge under 25 miles away, weeks go by without a long steady stint. Geography is no help.

Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration

It is self-protection: that is all limp mode amounts to. The entire problem is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.

Taking it up the motorway is the common advice, and it works as far as a limit. Beyond that line — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter requires cleaning.

A blocked DPF treated across Chimney Street, Suffolk

Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Chimney Street

On your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a few hours: the job is done with the filter still fitted on, which is the bit most drivers do not see coming.

A diagnostic goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are ruled out before anything is cleaned.

Then the cleaning. A solution is injected through the entry point on that car and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily blocked filters.

A regeneration is next, burning off what the clean has lifted. Ride along with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of Chimney Street. Drop it and the regeneration runs in place, with running data checked once it is done.

Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still showing logged. Both sets of figures reach you by email, so the numbers are kept.

What a DPF clean will not cure

One thing is what treatment answers — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • pressure or temperature sensors showing a blockage that is not there
  • a failed EGR valve
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running whatsoever
  • a turbo passing oil through the filter

The first scan is there for exactly that. When one of those proves the fault, you hear about it up front rather than once the money has left already.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into work.

Figures for DPF cleaning across Chimney Street

A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

Publishing a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it by phone, once the motor and its probable needs are known. What you own and where you are both move it: Chimney Street itself, over at Babel Green, or otherwise out across the CO postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says treatment will not help, you are not asked to pay for a clean. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened.

If the light comes back inside that time, an engineer travels back out to Chimney Street — the work carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.

Daz was very helpful in diagnosing my problem which turned out to be the turbo system, and gave me advice way beyond the call of duty. A good honest service that was very helpful.

Huge thank you to Carolina and Andras for an exceptionally efficient and prompt service. 4 hours from the time I placed my initial call to the DPF being cleaned. We'll definitely be using you again.

Matt K.

Fantastic service, extremely quick at coming out. The engineer was absolutely brilliant, showed me all the fault codes and explained everything. Highly recommended.

Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Chimney Street

Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles — a single call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than carried anywhere.

The same trip that puts engineers on Buntry Lane most weeks covers Chimney Street, Babel Green, Barnardiston and the places beyond Hundon. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out around Suffolk is still worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Questions Chimney Street drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
If you spot it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to Clare Co-op and back will not do it; motorway speed, held for a stretch, will.
Does the visit take long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A severely loaded filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
What does it run to in Chimney Street?
It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing happens by phone.
Do I have to be present?
The vehicle needs a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
How soon can someone travel to Chimney Street?
That depends on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the CO area has available.
Is the filter removed from the car?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is done in place. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
What if the light returns?
Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Chimney Street.
