Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Chimney, Oxfordshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. An engineer comes at your door in Chimney, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the car, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
You'll have a number by phone before anyone goes, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
The light is already on and the car is down on power — that is how we generally come across people, and precisely what this page covers.
What to check when the DPF light is on
It could not be the DPF in the end. That is the opening thing. A clean is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults show up as the same warning.
How the car is driven in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Vehicle still driving fine on an amber light — attempt a long even run first. It costs zero and frequently shifts the filter without a visit.
- Vehicle already dropped into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not reach it now.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.
What the motor has been telling you
Late news, the light. The symptoms generally build for a while before it shows:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is down
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
Blocked diesel particulate filters near Chimney, and the why
Being a rural hamlet, Chimney generates just the motoring a DPF copes with worst. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Aston and Cote Church of England Primary School, Bull Street barely moving at half eight, a few minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Hanborough. The soot collects rather than burning off.
Except when you have a routine need to drive out to the M4, under 15 miles from Chimney, or across to Oxford under 15 miles away, weeks go by without a long unbroken stint. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it
What limp mode comes down to is the vehicle looking after itself. The whole difficulty is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
Good advice, that motorway run — up until the moment it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that line, and the filter requires a clean rather than more driving.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Chimney
On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a while: the job takes place with the filter still fitted on, which is the detail most drivers do not see coming.
First a scan. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it logged before anything is cleaned.
Then the cleaning. A solution goes in through the entry point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to require doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. Stay with the motor and it becomes a monitored drive out of Chimney. Park it and the regeneration is done on the spot, with running data read once it is done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still open logged. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- pressure sensors reporting a restriction that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- an AdBlue system problem
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration completing in the first place
- oil working through the filter from a worn turbo
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. When one of those proves the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has left altogether.
Gutting the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is treated in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning charges in Chimney
Every visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, taking the booking, running the diagnostic and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
No flat rate would be straight, so the number is settled over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. What you run and where you are both change it: Chimney itself, across at Cote, or farther out within the OX postcode area.
If the scan counts a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, did the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Chimney.
Thank you Nic, you have done a great job for me today. DPF cleaned and all warning lights cleared, drives like new.
My father in law used this service. He was very impressed with the whole process and Kieran was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. Highly recommend.
The technician was very informative and kept me updated with what was happening with my car, a good job done.
The vehicles we clean and the ground we reach around Chimney
A single mobile service takes in cars and estates, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Our engineers are along Bull Street most weeks, so Chimney is seldom a journey of its own, and the same run covers Cote, Aston and the villages out past Hinton Waldrist. It is the calendar, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring still from even further out around Oxfordshire.

Chimney is also within commuting distance to London, being around 60 miles away.
Questions Chimney drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- If you spot it in time, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes flat to The Co-operative Food and back.
- How long does the visit last?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which lengthens it.
- What does it run to across Chimney?
- Cleaning starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Is it necessary for me to be there?
- Space for the motor to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
- How soon can someone travel to Chimney?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the diary. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is free across the OX area.
- The filter — does it come off the car?
- It is done where it stands, on the on-site service. We never take filters off or fit them back on, in either direction.
- What if the light comes back?
- An engineer heads back out to Chimney — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
