Symptoms have normally been growing for weeks before the light even shows. Last news, in other words:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- you see the revs never reach where they always went
- fuel economy turning worse
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Buddle
