Late news, the light. The symptoms usually grow for a while before it appears:
- power dropping away, particularly pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as before
- worse fuel use
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
None of that is evidence on its own. The light with them indicates a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round Beulah
Beulah is a village, and the day-to-day driving that belongs to one is the least kind sort for a DPF. Think about a normal week: the local primary school and home, A483 at a halt before half nine, a five-minute run to the local shops, a hop to Garth (Powys).
