Symptoms have generally been growing for weeks before the light ever shows. Last news, in other words:
- going uphill, the power tails off
- the revs no longer rise the way they always did
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box
That is not conclusive on its own. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair bet.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Benson
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the sort you meet across a village such as Benson.
