Mobile DPF Cleaning around Ardington and Oxfordshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. An engineer comes at your address across Ardington, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is on already and the car is low on power — that is how we generally find people, and what this page is about.
DPF light on? What comes next
Not the DPF, always. Main thing to note. A diagnostic happens before all cleaning, because that same dashboard light has several possible faults behind it.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime matters too.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving normally, just one even run, no outlay.
- Car already fallen into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not touch it now.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the car has been warning you
By the time the light shows, things have normally been going wrong for a while. It is late news:
- climbing uphill, the power tails off
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- fuel consumption getting worse
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
That is not conclusive on its own. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
The cause diesel particulate filters block around Ardington
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the kind you get around a village such as Ardington. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Wantage Primary Academy, not on Church Street at half past eight, not on ten minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the dash to Didcot Parkway. Instead of clearing, the soot builds up.
Neither is far from Ardington: under 10 miles to the M4, under 15 miles to Oxford. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter simply never gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode is. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
So the standard advice to take it up the motorway is sound advice, up until the day it is not. The filter wants a clean rather than driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Ardington
On your drive, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a few hours: the job is done with the filter yet bolted on, which is the bit most owners do not anticipate.
A diagnostic comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are ruled out before anything is cleaned.
A cleaning fluid after that is fed in through the access port on that motor, spreading inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. A second pass is sometimes required on severely blocked filters.
A regeneration comes next, driving off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Ardington; if not, in place where the car stands, with the live data read afterwards.
Both read-outs are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second diagnostic is what confirms the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still outstanding.
Where a clean is not the solution
A clean answers one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
- a failed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system failing
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Which is why the check goes first. When it proves to be one of those, you are let know before any work starts rather than after you have handed over anything.
Two things more worth noting. Having the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
DPF cleaning prices across Ardington
A call-out charge applies whatever happens, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice given. Treatment itself opens from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it over phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are known. Two things shift it: what you drive, and where you are — Ardington itself, over at West Hendred, or farther out in the OX postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for treatment that the scan says will not do it. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the diagnostic and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Ardington if the light comes back inside the period.
I called and within a couple of hours my car that could barely move was driving like new again. Really quick, friendly and professional service. Very happy with the service I received.
This morning, Ashley arrived to perform DPF full clean, very informative, and personable, resolved issue thoroughly and advised preventative measures, would use again.
Very honest, friendly and straight forward company and engineer (Attilla). He ran a diagnostic check and said that they could try cleaning it out but it would probably block again within a few weeks. Hence I was very happy to have only paid the £150.
What we clean, and how far we travel near Ardington
The filter is done where it sits on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Technicians are along Church Street nearly every week, so Ardington is hardly ever a journey of its own, and the same run covers West Hendred, West Ginge and the places out past East Lockinge. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call still from further out across Oxfordshire.

Questions Ardington drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the car has not fallen into limp mode. A steady run at motorway speed is what it takes — not five minutes to Co-op Food and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly loaded.
- Price across Ardington — what is it?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the number.
- Do I have to be present?
- Space for the vehicle to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
- How soon can someone get to Ardington?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the OX area.
- Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
- It is treated where it sits, on the mobile service. Nor does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Ardington.
