Mobile DPF Cleaning in Allum Green, Hampshire

With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. A fitter arrives at your door across Allum Green, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.

Nobody leaves until the number is settled over the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.

Most owners find us with the light showing, and the motor down on power. That is the position this page is written for.

DPF light on? What happens next

First thing: it is not necessarily the DPF. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults show up as the same warning.

The use you manage in the meantime tells. That is the other thing.

  • Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, motor driving normally, just one constant run, no cost.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
  • Stop booking long drives and get it seen to if the interior reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.

What the motor has been telling you

By the time the light shows, things have normally been going wrong for a while. It is late news:

  • less power, particularly pulling uphill
  • revs that will not pull the way they once did
  • worse fuel economy
  • a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
  • diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox

Alone, none of that is evidence. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair bet.

Why diesel particulate filters clog round Allum Green

The motoring that belongs to a rural hamlet like Allum Green is the worst type for a DPF. Run through a normal week: St Michael and All Angels CofE Infant School and home, Bournemouth Road at a halt before nine, a short hop to Morrisons, a run to Brockenhurst. None of it there goes on long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. The unburnt soot builds up rather than burning off.

Unless you have a routine need to head out to the M27, under 5 miles from Allum Green, or out to Southampton under 10 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a sustained run. Geography is against you.

DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode stops it

It is self-protection: that is all limp mode amounts to. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can never complete — which is the real problem, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.

Running it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds right up to a line. Beyond that point — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter requires treatment.

Where the car stands is where the DPF is done in Allum Green

On your front, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can stand for a while: the job takes place with the filter even now fixed on, which is the detail most people do not expect.

The ECU is interrogated first, reporting soot load by percent and by weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and related components, so nothing is started while another fault is still in play.

Then the clean. A solution is fed in through the access port on that car and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Allum Green if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor waits, with the live data read afterwards.

Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second check is what confirms the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still showing.

What a DPF clean will not cure

One thing is what cleaning answers — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • sensors, pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
  • a failed EGR valve
  • AdBlue system problems
  • glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration running in the first place
  • a turbo passing oil through the filter

Which is why the diagnostic happens first. When it turns out to be one of those, you are told before any work starts rather than after you have handed over anything.

Hollowing the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the phrase people look up, though nothing is exchanged — your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.

Figures for DPF cleaning around Allum Green

A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

The figure is agreed on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be truthful. What you own and where you are both shift it: Allum Green itself, over at Gritnam, or otherwise out in the SO postcode area.

Where the check says cleaning will not help, you are not asked to pay for a clean. The call-out charge nonetheless applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Allum Green.

The vehicles we clean and the ground we cover around Allum Green

Whatever it is — car, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the same call-out service holds, and the filter never leaves it.

Engineers are along Bournemouth Road most weeks, so Allum Green is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run picks up Gritnam, Bank and the villages out past Emery Down. Call anyway from even further out around Hampshire. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the date you are offered depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

What Allum Green drivers want to know about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough alone?
Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes to Morrisons and back.
How long does the visit last?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
What does it cost in Allum Green?
A clean starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both change the price.
Have I got to be present?
You need not stand with it — the motor simply needs space to stand for a couple of hours. Ride along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a supervised drive.
Can someone travel to Allum Green soon?
You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the schedule. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the SO area has available.
Does the filter leave the vehicle?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We do not lift filters off or bolt them back on, whichever way.
The light reappears — then what?
Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Allum Green.
