Mobile DPF Cleaning for Zoar, Cornwall
Cleaning the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a garage. Your vehicle isn't taken away and the filter does not come off. An engineer turns up at your place in Zoar, cleans the diesel particulate filter still on the motor and runs a DPF regeneration.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the figure is fixed by the phone before anyone travels.
The light is already on and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we usually meet people, and precisely what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What then?
It might not be the filter whatsoever. That is the main thing. A scan goes before the treatment, because that same panel light has several possible faults behind it.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving normally, just one even run, no outlay.
- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under acceleration, is the stage to stop booking long drives and book it in.
Signs the car has been showing you
By the time the light arrives, things have usually been going wrong for weeks. It is late news:
- less power, especially pulling uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- fuel consumption going worse
- stop/start quietly bowing out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
Why diesel particulate filters clog around Zoar
Zoar is a coastal area, and the day-to-day driving that belongs to one is the poorest type for a DPF. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Coverack Primary School, B3293 barely moving at half past eight, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Penmere. The unburnt soot builds up rather than burning off.
The M5 stands over 50 miles from Zoar, Truro under 25 miles off, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, full weeks go by without the long unbroken run that empties a DPF. Geography does not oblige.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
Limp mode is the car defending itself. With pulling power held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter requires can never happen at all. That counts, because starting one is precisely what a long run does.
So the common advice to take it up the motorway is good advice, right until it stops being. In limp mode you are the far side of that point: treatment is what will do it, not more miles.
The car stays in place for call-out DPF cleaning across Zoar
On your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours: the job happens with the filter still fitted on, which is the bit most drivers do not see coming.
A diagnostic goes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and associated parts, so other faults are eliminated before anything is touched.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never shift are lifted next, by a cleaning solution put through the entry point on that car, which expands inside the filter. Where the filter is badly clogged, allow for a second pass.
A regeneration comes next, burning off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Zoar; if not, statically where the car stands, with the running data verified once done.
A second check proves the change, puts out the warning light and notes anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.
Where cleaning is not the answer
Only one fault is fixed by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- pressure or temperature sensors showing a restriction that is not there
- EGR valves that stick open
- an AdBlue system fault
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
Which is why the check comes first. When one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands already.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets typed in as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into use.
The price for DPF cleaning around Zoar
Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we know what you drive, and about what the filter will want, the number gets agreed by phone. A single price for every job would not be truthful. What you run and where you are both shift it: Zoar itself, over at Penhallick, or farther out across the TR postcode area.
If the diagnostic writes cleaning out, there is not a penny to pay for it. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, did the scan and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Zoar if the light reappears inside the time.
Couldn't be more happier awesome service straight to your front door. Baz you legend thanks so much for your help today you solved all my issues. Money well spent.
Andras was very helpful after clean discovered pressure sensor was faulty when replaced came back to clear engine management light.
Very happy with the service. Liam arrived at agreed time and was very professional. He explain the process and answered all the questions I had.
The vehicles we clean and the ground we cover near Zoar
The one mobile service takes in private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Zoar is seldom a special trip: our engineers are working B3293 nearly every week, and the same run picks up Penhallick, Coverack and the places out past St Keverne. Ring anyway from even further out around Cornwall. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you get comes down to the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Questions Zoar drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- Sometimes, if you get it in time and the motor has not slipped into limp mode. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it takes — not five minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
- How long does the visit last?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
- The cost around Zoar — what is it?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you run and where you live both change the figure.
- Do I have to be present?
- No. The vehicle requires somewhere to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
- Can someone travel to Zoar soon?
- That hangs on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is available across the TR area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- It is cleaned where it sits, on the on-site service. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- And if the light comes back?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Zoar.
