Before the light, what the car was warning you
Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for some time before it shows:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- you see the revs fall short of where they once went
- fuel consumption getting worse
- stop/start quietly bowing out
- the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Any one of those, taken alone, is not proof. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair assumption.
What clogs diesel particulate filters round York Town
