The car has been showing you already
Late news, the light. The symptoms usually build for some time before it appears:
- less power, especially pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- the fuel economy is worse
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in the car
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. The light alongside them suggests a full filter.
