By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for weeks. It is belated news:
- power falling off, especially pulling uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- fuel use that is worse than before
- without a word, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box
On its own, none of that is conclusive. Next to the light, it is a fair guess the filter is blocked.
Why diesel particulate filters block near Woolston
