Mobile DPF Cleaning for Woodlands, Dorset
Treating the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a garage. The fitter pulls up at your door in Woodlands and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, agreed on the phone before anyone sets off.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the vehicle low on power. That is the position this page is written for.
Your DPF light is showing — what next?
The DPF is not necessarily what is at fault, and that goes first. That light can come from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit starts with a scan and not with a clean.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.
- Amber light, car even now driving fine — a long constant run can yet sort it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you book anything.
- Car already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it looked at if the cabin stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
Symptoms have generally been growing for weeks before the light so much as shows. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, above all pulling uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- stop/start silently giving up
- the cabin reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. Next to the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Woodlands, and the cause
Being a rural village, Woodlands generates exactly the use a DPF manages the poorest. The school run to Wimborne St Giles Church of England First School and Nursery, Horton Road at a standstill at half eight, ten minutes to Morrisons, the hop to Branksome — not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. The soot that should burn away banks up instead.
Geography does not help either. The M27 is under 25 miles from Woodlands and Salisbury is under 15 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way routinely, whole weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might clear the filter by itself.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the vehicle looking after itself. With power limited and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter wants cannot happen at all. That matters, because setting off one is precisely what a long run does.
Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it works as far as a line. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that stage, and the filter wants a clean rather than road work.
DPF cleaning at the car across Woodlands
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF even now bolted to the vehicle, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can stand for a few hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That requires a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related hardware.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the access point on that car, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes called for on heavily clogged filters.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Woodlands; if not, in place where the motor waits, with the live data read after.
A second check confirms the change, puts out the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both sets of figures are sent over, so you have the before and after figures recorded.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- pressure or temperature sensors flagging a block that is not there
- EGR valves that jam open
- AdBlue system failures
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting in the first place
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
Which is why the scan goes first. You are let know before any work begins, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is swapped: the filter you own is cleaned where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth noting.
Figures for DPF cleaning in Woodlands
A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Treatment itself begins from £299.
The number is agreed over the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. What you run and where you are both move it: Woodlands itself, out at Haythorne, or farther out across the BH postcode area.
You are not charged for a clean that the scan says will not do it. What still holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was carried out and the advice was offered.
The clean includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Woodlands if the light comes back inside that window.
Jim was in time, very professional and helpful answering my questions and in explaining the diagnostic information. He also could answer my questions about my model which has it's own issues. Very happy with him.
Dan and Rob attended to my vehicle. I was kept informed prior to their arrival. When they arrived they analysed my car and pointed out the faults. They did the job in just over an hour and advised me on post cleaning tips. I thought DPF service was very professional.
Liam the engineer was very professional at all times and knew his job well everything explained and all good van goes like a dream maybe do another 100,000 miles.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we reach round Woodlands
Private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — a single on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.
Technicians are along Horton Road week in week out, so Woodlands is rarely a detour, and the same run covers Haythorne, Woodlands Common and the villages out past Whitmore. Coverage is UK-wide, so further out across Dorset is even so worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Things Woodlands drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- It can, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not set in. It wants a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes flat to Morrisons and back.
- About how long does it run?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — severely loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
- How much does it cost around Woodlands?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Have I have to be there?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle simply requires space to wait for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be run as a supervised drive if you would sooner ride along.
- How soon can someone travel to Woodlands?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the BH area has open.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- And if the light reappears?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Woodlands.
