Signs the motor has been sending you
Symptoms have generally been growing for a while before the light so much as arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, especially pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
- worse fuel use
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
That is not proof on its own. With the light, it is a fair guess the filter is loaded.
Why diesel particulate filters clog around Winestead
