Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for some time before it appears:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car
That is not evidence by itself. Next to the light beside them, the filter is a fair bet.
